December 8, 2019 Episode 2 (UK Original Air Date March 10, 2008)

Shirley lies unconcious in her apartment.

Stacey watches Mickey, Gus, Clare and Bradley from across the bar. Mickey and Gus are staring at Clare’s chest as they talk about cars. Clare says she’d get a Porsche. She can just picture herself cruising up the Kings Highway, top down. Mickey, still starring at Clare’s chest, says he’d get a Porsche. Gus says to Bradley “you’ve got it! New job, new ride, new woman!” Bradley says that is all he needs is another woman messing with his head. Clare takes note.

Garry says to Minty and Heather that he gives Shirley five years with all the booze and fags she smokes. Garry says imagine what her insides must look like! Minty says a bit like her outside probably. The continue to make fun of Shirley and Phil tells them to give it a rest. Heather says it was not right of her to leave Shirl like that. She starts to head off and they stop her. Garry asks Phil for some peanuts. Phil grumbles about it. Roxie and Ronnie come busting through the door back from vacation. Roxie is ready to have a party! She holds up a bottle and asks who wants some! Phil takes a deep breath.

Tanya and Sean are in bed. He finds Max’s cologne and wonders angrily what it is doing there. Tanya explains it’s been there for ages. Sean is worried Max has made his way back to her bed. She tells him Max is sleeping on the sofa. She looks at her watch and tells him he’ll need to get moving. Sean playfully tells her “what if I don’t want to move?” She tickles him and gets him moving only for them to begin making out again.

Ronnie is pouring shots. Stacey is making her move to go to the movies with her mum. Steven hints that he would like to come along. Stacey tells him to take her hint and she tells her mum to come along.

Roxie is giving Ben his gift she brought him. Phil tells Roxie he told her not to disturb Ben. Ben comments that his gift is from the Sound of Music. Phil declares that is a girls film, innit? Roxie tells him it’s a war film about a grumpy old man who falls for a girl. Ben says “like Shirley?” Roxie says like Shirley, only not like Shirley. Roxie wonders where Shirley is and why she isn’t working? Ben tells Roxie that his Dad sacked Shirley. Phil sends Ben back upstairs to bed.

Max pulls up and looks at Tanya’s bedroom light on.

Phil asks Roxie where Albert’s lead is. Roxie tells him it’s hanging by the door. Ronnie tells him to hang on they are busy. Phil tells her he has a headache and she’s busy. He stops and pops his head back in to say Welcome Back! Jack walks in. Bradley asks him if he got his message then? Jack sees that Ronnie is back, turns to Bradley and invites them all round to the club for free drinks. Ronnie calls out “oi you can’t do that!” Jack asks Minty if he’s coming? Minty says that he must stay and look after Heather. Mickey encourages Garry to come and help Bradley get back on the wagon. Garry says he might as well, as it is his birthday. Roxie calls out that there are laws against knicking punters!

Tanya and Sean are still in bed and they hear the door shut. Sean shushes her and they hear Max call up for her. Tanya yells she’ll be down in a minute! Sean smiles and cuddles into her pillow as Tanya jumps up.

A bum sorts through the garbage as Phil walks by. He takes out his phone. He pulls Albert away from some garbage.

Tanya is rushing to get Sean out the window. Max calls up and she tells him she’s sorry she had the hair dryer on. Max asks Tanya where his phone charger is. She tells him its upstairs and she’ll go get it. Max tells her not to worry he’ll go. She goes up behind him. Max sees his charger and wonders why the window is open. He hurts his back as he shuts the window. Max says he must have hurt his back bowling. Tanya laughs at him saying “how old you sound saying you’ve hurt yourself bowling!” Max reminds her he’s sleeping on the sofa and it doesn’t help. The girls start to argue. Abi calls for Tanya to hurry as Marge is sick. Tanya tells Abi she will be there in a minute. Max asks her to consider letting him sleep in her bed. He says he would take it slow. Tanya tells him she’ll think about it. She calls to him “come on Granddad.” Sean crawls out from underneath the bed.

Lucy tells her Dad he must have done something wrong because he never buys flowers. Ian tells Lucy that Jane likes them so he thought it would be a nice surprise.Bobby comes sdown and asks Ian to read him a story? Bobby pulls on Ian’s suit. Ian stops him and pushes him over to Lucy. He says it was the last suit in the shop. Lucy says there’s a surprise! Ian says as long as the Queen likes it. Ian tells Bobby that Lucy will read him a story. Ian tells Lucy he’s going to the chippy to cash out. Lucy wonders why Peter gets to go out and she has to babysit? Ian replies that Peter is a good lad who doesn’t bring strangers home. Lucy says her life is so sad that even Jane is out clubbing. Ian says that Jane is not out clubbing, she’s just at the club.

Jane and Christian are at R&R’s when Clare comes in. Christian laughs and asks if Ian’s with her. Jane scoffs and tells Christian she knows Ian says he didn’t do anything but just look at her. Christian says that men don’t own up something will come out. Jane says it makes her just want to. Christian finishes her sentence and says “snog the face off of some bloke? Jane laughs. Christian makes a bet with Jane. Drinks on him all night if she snogs one of the blokes in the group next to them. Jane laughs and says whatever. Christian motions to her she’s probably not looking for a knock back. Jane laughs and asks him if he thinks she can’t pull it in these days? She takes his dare and looking at Jack says she gets to choose.

Phil goes round to Shirley’s and rings the bell. Shirley is still passed out on the floor. A neighbor arrives and lets Phil in. Phil knocks on the door and no answer. He calls her cell phone. Shirley doesn’t respond. He tells Shirley this is stupid he can hear her phone. He goes to leave and Albert barks at the door. He comes in to find Shirley on the floor. He moves Albert away from her and sees the blood on the floor. He calls to Shirley and no response.

Lucy is reading to Bobby about the Emperors new Clothes. Bobby is wearing Ian’s jacket. Lucy feigns being sleepy.

Shirley starts to come round. Phil asks her if she’s alright? She calls out for Phil not to leave her. He tells her it’s alright.

Steven asks Ian “when you first met Jane was she keen from the onset or did she make him wait a little bit?” Ian explains that she didn’t as she was with someone else at the time. He knew she was special because she didn’t mess him about. Stacey and Jean come in. Steven says it must have been a short film. Stacey tells him that her mum got the time wrong. Jean says it said 19:30 and she thought it meant 9:30. Stacey says it meant 7:30 and now it’s another night spent doing nothing. Party goers walk by and Steven says they could go to the club. Ian is happy and says they should as Jane is there and he can keep an eye on what she’s doing. Jean says since Stacey will be with Steven she doesn’t have to go. Stacey says “whatever just don’t expect me to smile though.” Steven teases her and says “you smile?” They head off and Jean tells Ian she’s not hungry anymore.

Phil brings Shirley a glass of water. She asks him what he’s looking at. He replies the bride of Frankenstein. She takes a sip and asks him what he’s given her? She asks him to bring her the bottle of vodka. Phil tells Shirley to get it herself. Shirley tells him to shut up. She tells him he’s jealous. He wonders what he’s meant to be jealous of? Shirley tells Phil he’s jealous because he can’t drink for fun. He asks her if this is what she calls fun? She demands he bring her the bottle. Phil gets up and hands it to her telling her to go ahead and do them all a favor. He tells her she’s living like a pig. She asks him what he’s doing there then? He says he thought she was dead. She tells him he better go tell everyone the bad news. He gets up to leave and says for her to look at the state of herself. Phil tells Shirley she should put a bandage on her head. He hands her a towel and she asks him if he’s still there?

Jane makes eyes at Jack. She goes over and chats him up. Jack asks her “no Ian?” She says “I see you have yourself a fan” motioning towards Clare. Jack tells Jane that unlike his brother he prefers girls his own age. Jack walks away and Jane follows asking if she can buy him a drink. He smiles at her and says he’s going to let her in on a little secret, he gets them at half price. He asks Jane if she’s like one. She smiles and says she’d love one.

Gus, Garry and Mickey are all determining if Clare is out of their league. Clare is on the dance floor and Gus tells Bradley that she’s looking at him. Garry says if she’s looking at anyone it should be him as it’s his birthday. He makes a move on Clare.

Shirley sits up. Phil comes in and tells her he’s fixed her door. Shirley has passed out again. Shirley jumps when Phil touches her. She asks him what he’s doing? He tells Shirley he’s calling an ambulance. She doesn’t want him too and protest. Phil doesn’t listen and continues to call and ambulance. He tells her she’s probably concussed. Shirley cries.

Garry and Clare are sitting behind Bradley. Clare does a shot. She asks Garry if he’s 36 or 46? Garry can’t hear her and she asks him again. Bradley gets up and walks past. Clare asks Garry if he fancies a dance? She has to ask him again. Garry gets it this time and they go out on the dance floor. Jane asks Jack if Clare is like that with everyone? Jack responds not with him. With him she talks about Greek Revivals and what her favorite Tellytubby character is. Jane giggles. Jack is called away by a barman. She tells him to go ahead as she’ll be right there. Christian walks up and asks her if she realizes Jack is only toying with her? Jane asks Christian if he’s jealous?

Clare is dancing with Garry and asks him to wait right there. She kisses him on the cheek and tells him she will be right back. Clare makes a beeline for Bradley as Stacey walks in. Clare sits across from Bradley and makes sure Stacey sees her.

Bobby is still wearing Ian’s jacket. Lucy is asleep on the sofa. Bobby walks to the cabinet, opens the drawer and gets out the scissors. He holds them starring at Ian’s trousers.

A girl dances up to Garry and he tells her he’s waiting on someone. Mickey and Gus tell him to get in there! Clare asks Bradley to pretend like he’s her boyfriend for a minute. He’s confused. She tells him there are so many creeps there. Bradley tells her they aren’t exactly looking like a couple. Clare teases him and tells him she could so pull him. Bradley says that is not what he meant. He just meant they aren’t exactly a normal couple. Clare tells him they could pull it off. She hurries him to put his arm around her as two guys walk past. Stacey watches and Steven offers to leave if she wants. Stacey tells him she’s here now, she’s ok. Steven tells her that he’s glad they can still talk. Stacey says it was just a kiss. He again tells her he’s just glad they are still mates. Stacey is starring at Bradley and Clare as Steven tries to get her attention.

Abi is upset because Marge is sick. Abi is worried Marge is going to die. Max wraps the hot water bottle in a towel and says she’s going to be alright. They just have to keep Marge warm. Max remembers a time when Abi was sick, her little arms just a flailing. Tanya tears up and tells Abi that her dad was up with her all night putting drops in. It’s a tender moment until Lauren calls out that all this fuss is over a furball! Max comforts Abi. Tanya offers to make them all some warm milk before bed.

Tanya goes into the kitchen and gasps as she finds Sean there looking demented. Max asks if she is ok? She tells him she’s fine as she’s just stubbed her toe. She asks Sean what he’s playing at? He tells her he could ask her the same as he’s overheard every word of them inside playing happy family. She warns him when he interrupts and asks her how Max’s back is. He tells her he’s told some whoppers in his time but nothing like that. She tells Sean that Max is not getting in her bed! He asks her to promise him. She promises and rushes him out the door.

Clare tells Bradley about her weird taste. He’s surprised she likes the things he does. She tells him that when she saw his Lord of the Rings Anthology she was happy she finally had someone to talk to about it. Stacey watches them.

Gus, Christian, Garry and Mickey are all watching Jack and Jane. Gus wonders if there is something going on between those two? Christian says not unless she’s paying for it! Mickey asks if Garry got his birthday snog? Garry says no and at this point he’ll be snogging Gus. Gus winces.

Shirley is checked in to the emergency room. Phil comes in and tells her it’s like a circus out there but they said it wouldn’t be long. Shirley dismisses him. He refuses to leave. She tells him she just wants to be on her own. Phil tells her it’s only fair as she had to witness him off his head. Phil asks her whats wrong with them? Shirley says it doesn’t matter now does it? He asks her if its Kev? He says that people handle things differently ya know. He says it was the same with him and his Ben. He tells her that her Kev was a good bloke. He says a lot of good it did Kev worrying about family and money. All she’s ever done is screw things up. The doctor comes in and Shirley sends him out. Phil leaves.

Garry is chatting up Jane. He tells her that he reckons that marriage is like a bicycle tire. You have to take care of it and ride it but in the end eventually it’s going to burst. Garry tells that sometimes you have to ride a new bike. Jane scoffs. Garry tells Jane that he agrees with Christian that Ian’s forgotten what he’s had. Jane tells Garry that she needs a word with her brother. Christian is laughing. Jane lets him have it for telling the local lech that she’s split up with Ian. Christian says he’s only unearthed a new admirer. Jane tells him he’s doing what he always does. Christian says he only wants her to start having some fun! Jane tells him “no, you want to have fun at my expense. You do what you always do and try to mess up my life to make you feel better. You could even handle to see her with Jack.!” Christian tells her he just wants her to have a life with someone other than Ian. She tells him to back off and leave it. Garry starts to make a move and she tosses her drink on Stacey. Jane storms off.

Tanya is laying out Max’s bed. She says she gave him extra pillows so he won’t be complaining about his back tomorrow. Max asks if he could just lay next to her. He promises not to do anything. He asks her please? Outside Sean is watching the house.

Jane walks into the chippy. She asks him if he’s taking a half day or what? Ian begs her to believe him that he would never cheat on her in a million years! Jane tells him she believes him but he’s still a pratt though. Ian says he knows. She tells him “but you’re my pratt!” They kiss and make up.

Sean is sitting outside watching Tanya’s. Tanya leans over and touches her pillow.

Stacey walks up to Steven. He tells her he saw her watching Bradley. Steven apologizes for leaving. He asks what happened to her shirt? She tells him Jane was off her head and threw her drink on her. Steven pulls out two dvd’s and asks if she wants to watch them since she missed her film? He promises not to try anything. Stacey tells him that if they are going to try this going out thing then he’s got to quit being so weird. He is happy and promises. Stacey says she must be off her head. As they are going in she sees Bradley and Clare walking back. Clare tells Bradley that he must move on. Bradley says it’s going to be hard. Clare tells him he can do it.

Sean continues to watch the house.

Minty and Heather are still playing games. Heather wonders if she’s done the right thing leaving Shirley like that.Minty says she did.

Shriley is all checked out and the doctor starts to check her. She gasps as the Doctor checks her ribs. The doctor warns her about breaking bones when she’s drinking. Shirley tells her she’s not worried about the breaking things and the bruising. The doctor asks her if it has anything to do with the man that brought her there. Shirley tells her it is nothing like that. Shirley tells her she found a lump in her breast and she thinks it could be cancer.
