December 15, 2019 Episode 2 (UK Original Air Date March 13, 2008)


Lucy sits on the sofa and Ian is lecturing her to remember that it is alright to feel hopeless. He tells her that when he was a young boy he used to put his headphones on and jump around listening to the music. He takes out a tape and says that her Uncle Mark made this for him when he was about her age. The doorbell rings and Peter goes to answer. Ian hands it to Lucy and says that when he was bout her age Mark made it for him as he was having trouble with his own dad. Peter tells his dad the meter man is there. Lucy wonders what she’s going to play it on? Ian hands her a walkman and headphones. Lucy half smiles.

Ian is chatting up the meter man and tells him that he’s going to the palace. Ian figures that he’ll go back and tell his mates about reading the meter of a man who’s gone to Buckingham Palace. They’ll all be fighting to read his meter Ian says. Lucy and Peter roll their eyes at their dad’s antics.

Gus is hanging the finish line ribbon when Garry runs through it. Ian comes out trying to get the kids out the door for school. Jack walks by and Ian asks if he’s all ready for tonight? Jack tells him he’ll be round once he’s finished with the boxing at the community center. Ian tells him that Peter is in the run and will finish in record time! Jack reminds Ian it’s not all about the winning sometimes its more important to have fun and raise some money. Ian yells for Lucy to get a move on. Ian tells Peter there is something about the win as he races through the finish line ribbon Gus has just hung. Gus yells it was his last one!

Tanya tells Sean she can’t see him tonight. He says what about now? She tells him she can sort something out she supposes? She walks in and finds Max home. She asks him why he’s there. He says Abi called and is really worried about Marge. Tanya says she doesn’t have time to take Marge back to the vet. Max suggest she take Marge to work with her. This way she can watch and make sure she doesn’t get up to anything naughty. Max wonders why her clients are calling her on her cell? He also says she looked like she expected an empty house. Tanya covers and says that she was expecting and empty house and not everyone operates the way he does. Max tries to say he didn’t mean it like that.

Shirley and Heather are in the laundrette. Minty figures they know everything there is about one another. They have Shirley ask them a few more questions. They answer them correctly. Shirley jokes it’s like they have esp. Garry comes in and says he got a whole stack of magazines from Patrick that has all those love test in them. He figures a few rounds of those and they’ll feel like they have seen the test before they take it. Shirley teases Garry that they were probably his personal stash. He comes back at Shirley with a snarky remark about an article reading “How I beat Cancer while playing table tennis.” It strikes a nerve with Shirley and she calls Garry a pratt. Marina comes in to visit.

Jase is in the Vic and Phil mentions he hasn’t seen him lately. Jase says he had to go earn some money ya know since he was sacked and all. Phil mentions he needs a door taken care of. Jase says that twenty quid will cover it. Phil tells Jase he thought they had a special deal. Jase says that debt is paid. He tells Phil he doesn’t need it hanging over him anymore now that he’s got Dawn and the kids to worry about.

Ben comes in and Phil wonders what he’s doing home from school. Ben tells him he doesn’t feel well and doesn’t think he can do the boxing. Phil sends him upstairs to rest and figures that will help him be ready later. Ben is not happy.

Sean is sitting at Booty when Tanya comes in. Sean wonders why she hung up on him earlier. She tells him that Max was home. He begs her to get out of drinks and come spend time with him. She tells him she can’t. Sean is worried that Tanya is falling under Max’s spell. Tanya warns him off of that. He leaves and she notices Marge is not moving. She pokes at Marge to discover she’s gone.

Marni is giving Minty and “Hazel” their quiz. They are doing glowingly. Marni tells them that the other couple scored 83%. Marni tells them they scored 87%. They jump up as they’ve won! They take the bubbly to put it on ice. Marni takes out her phone to call in the win when she notices the magazines with “Cheat your way to win Love Gar”

Phil is pleased Ben is feeling better. Gus walks out with toilet paper from the caff. Ian says that is 22 p! Jane scoffs at him. Ian says it is a joke. Lucy comes home from school and sees the invitation to the palace. She has a meanacing look.

Minty and Heather come in to find Marni gone.

Jack is working with the kids in the ring. Phil wants Jay and Ben to throw some punches. Jack tells him no as the kids saftey is paramount. Jay throws punches at Jack’s mits. Ben halfway tosses punches at his sparing partner. Phil says to Jase “bet your disappointed and all? I mean you like a fight don’t ya.” Jase looks at Phil and tells him to watch how far he pushes him. Jack takes notice of the animosity.

Abi and Max are walking back from school. Max sits Abi down and tells her about Marge. Tanya is watching from the window of Booty. Sean walks up behind her. She wonders if he killed Marge? Sean tells her that the last time he saw Marge she was chomping on a pumpkin seed. He tells Tanya maybe she had a nut allergy. Tanya notes how heartbroken Abi is. Sean wonders if Tanya can cope.

The race is on and Ian notices Lucy sneaking by. He storms after her demanding to know where she is going? He demands that she come back. Lucy defies him. Ian turns back to watch Peter win the race. He celebrates Peters win. Lucy watches on and walks away.

Marni is in the pub asking questions. Shirley overhears and tells Heather she better get over there quick.

Jack declares Jay the winner. Phil and Jase have words and Jack tells them to take it out in the ring. They agree and Jack announces Phil Raging Bull Mitchell against Jase the man in black Dyer. Jase and Phil continue to verbally spar. Ben walks out. Jay cheers his dad on. Phil is having fun with it and doesn’t notice.

Marni thinks she’s called them out and Minty and Heather go in for a right snog. She leaves and Shirley tells them to stop it. Heather is abit swept off her feet.

Everyone is settled in for a night in at the Bealles. Ian is full of his visit to the palace. It becomes a tit for tat between Jane and Max. Tanya is not amused. Lucy is at Lauren’s. Lauren asks Lucy what is going on. Lucy says she’s so filled with fury and just wants to smash everything. Lucy says is this all there is to life. Tanya and Jane selling themselves down for ugly men with a few quid in their pocket? Is that all there is?

Phil comes in and wonders why Ben left. Ben tells his dad that he didn’t like the boxing. Phil wonders why he didn’t tell him? Ben tells his dad he didn’t want to upset him. Ben wonders if maybe he could do something else? Phil tells him whatever he wants. Phil walks out and Ben closes the door and puts on a musical.

Max confronts Jane and tells her to say whats on her mind. Jane tells him he knows what she thinks. Max says he made a mistake and he begged tanya to forgive him. tanya stops them and tells them she knows what they are all thinking. She tells them she’s forgiven him. She’s his girl and hes her guy. Jane continues to make digs. Tanya tells them that Max has told her his greatest loves and fears. Jane continues to doubt how deep Max really went. tanya tells them it was really personal stuff. They push her and she tells them about Jim’s mates locking Max in a coffin overnight. Jack wonders if it was true. Max says he wouldn’t make something like that up. Jack says it depends on the circumstance. Christian says that they should make a toast. To Ian and the Queen.

Shirley tells Phil it was some kiss Minty gave Heather. He wonders if those two are really getting married. She tells him they are. She asks him about the open bar maid position. He tells her she can have it and he’ll see her Monday. Jase comes in and he and Phil settle their differences with a handshake. Jase wonders what the catch is. Phil tells him he doesn’t need another enemy on the square.

Lucy comes home and shows them the tape Ian gave her. Christian says he had him down as a bit of a T’Pau man. They all laugh. Lucy quotes the lyrics of a song that puts the queen and the crown down. Ian stops her. She asks him if he’s going to sing that song for her when he meets her? He tells her of course not? She says if you like this tape and the Queen doesn’t that make you a bit of a hypocrite? He says no it doesn’t. She says that makes him a liar. She asks if they toss confeti after meeting the queen? He says no. She tosses the cofetti she’s made from his invitation. Everyone heads out to the sounds of Ian yelling at Lucy.

Lucy comes down. He tells her she is poisonous jealous little cow. She tells him he is pathetic. She tells him that the meter man thought he was pathetic. Lucy tells him he is pathetic. Ian tells her she’s turning on the tears just like her mum used to as lucy starts to cry. She tells him she’s not some evil cow trying to ruin his life.

Max thanks Tanya for sticking up for him. Max thinks he’s going to get to sleep in bed with her. She says she’s going to check on the kids. Max wonders about his bedding and she tells him she’ll toss a duvet down to him.

Lucy tells her dad that she looks at Lauren and she has all these things she is into. Lucy says she tries to find something she cares about but she can’t. Ian tells her that she is a beautiful girl. When her um took Peter and steven he used to come into her room and looka ther sleeping. He tells her she is his angel and he woudl lay down his life for her She says he’s just saying that. Jane comes in and Ian tells her to give them a minute. Ian says How about we all go to the adventure park on Sunday? Lucy says really? He says then on MOnday they can go shopping. She is more important that the queen. Ian tells her that she is more important to him. He kisses her head and gives her computer backc. He tells lucy she doesn’t realize how much he loves her. He opens the door and goes in to talk to Jane. She tells him that Edward told them that they can still go meet the queen. Ian is giddy and Lucy overhears him. He lies to lucy and tells her they can still go to the them park on Sunday. But monday they should try to get everything back in order. Lucy tells him he should go spend time with jane and she prefers that. He tells Lucy she’s still his number one girl. Lucy smiles as he walks out. She sends an email out to 357 friends inviting them to a party at hers on Sunday.
