The phone is ringing, and Minty is madly searching for it. When he finally finds it, it is the wedding contest leaving a message about their reaching a decision on the winner. Minty smashes a photo and cries.
Garry is asleep on Heather and Shirley’s flat. Heather is pulling the blankets over him as Shirley walks in. She tells Heather, “easy Hev or you’ll be done for sexual assault!” Heather tells Shirley she’s just making sure he doesn’t catch a chill. Shirley tells Heather that he isn’t stopping there. Heather tells Shirl he has nowhere to go. Heather says it’s the big day and they’ve got pictures and celebrating to do. Shirley surmises that Hazel is probably shacked up with another man by now. Heather is determined not to give up and sets out to find Hazel.
Jean sees Stacie brooding over a paper. She asks Stacie what it is? Stacie tells her it’s the bill for her pitch, and she can’t afford it. If she doesn’t pay it, she’ll lose her pitch. Jean suggests she have a sale. Stacie sarcastically replies that it’s great. Sell everything and then have no money to purchase new stock. Jean reminds her she’ll at least still have her pitch. Stacie says it won’t do her any good if she doesn’t have anything to sell. Mo comes in wearing her pink robe, curlers in her hair, and starts to clip her toenails. Jean asks Mo to pitch in and help Stacie. Mo says that she can’t as she has plans. Jean begs that it’s her last chance. Mo says it might be hers and all too. Stacie tells them not to put themselves out on her account as everyone on the market knows she ain’t worth it.
Ian comes downstairs and finds a half-naked man in their house. Jane comes down, and Ian pushes her into the kitchen to alert her. They walk out to see Christian and his friend.
Heather leaves Hazel a message. Garry wakes up and tells her that she is wasting her time as his mum is good at not wanting to be found until she’s ready.
Chelsea stops to check herself out on the way to work. Clare comes up behind her and compliments Chelsea on her uniform. Chelsea sarcastically replies, “at least I’ve got a job to go to. Maybe Dot will give you a few shifts.” They start walking towards the salon and Chelsea pips that she shouldn’t bother Tanya anymore for a job. They walk in, and Tanya welcomes the pair, which irritates Chelsea, and Clare smiles broadly. Tanya introduces Clare to the staff. Chelsea approaches Tanya and says, ” I thought I got the job?” Tanya explains that she did, but with Hazel needing some time off, she thought Clare could help them out. Tanya tells them both that she’s got to pop out and will be back in a bit.
Stacey is in a right mood at her stall. A customer shops and Stacey tells her, “looking for something smart? Well, you’ve come to the wrong place because I specialize in trash.” The customer leaves, and Jean walks up and asks her what she’s playing at? Stacey tells her if she’s going to lose it, then she might as well have a bit of fun. Jean tells her she’d like to see her sparkle back. She enlists the help of Steven to get Stacey’s stall cleared at a profit for her.
Ian is pouring tea and spills it over. Jane quips for him to watch what he’s doing. Ian is still upset over Christian, bringing back a man. He asks Jane if this is how it’s going to be? Christian bringing back anyone he likes, whenever he likes? It’s still their house! Jane tells him that she will talk to Christian. Ian goes on about the kids and wanting to enjoy their house. Jane tells him she agrees with him, and she’ll talk to him.
Chelsea comes down the stairs, and Clare is finishing a phone call. Clare asks Chelsea if she doesn’t have anything to sweep up, and while she’s at it, she’ll take a coffee. Chelsea reminds her she is a beauty consultant, and she doesn’t make coffee. Clare tells Chelsea she does now. They argue about what Tanya pays her to do. Chelsea tells Clare she isn’t her slave and for her to make her own coffee. Clare slams down her pencil. Clare informs Chelsea hat she will have a word with Tanya about aggressive attitude. Clare storms up the stairs. The phone rings, and Chelsea answers and gets a look on her face. She tells the caller she is in luck as there is a special today from 12-1 and makes sure she tells them they talked to Clare. Chelsea smirks at her genius.
Jane comes in, and Christian is working on the website. He responds to her that it’s good, isn’t it? She tells him she didn’t know he could do all of this. He tells her he’s multi-talented. Ian doesn’t know how lucky he is to have me as a partner. Jane asks him what he was playing at bringing that man home. He tells Jane he thought Ian would enjoy the sight of the man in his boxers. Bringing out some of his repressed tendencies. Jane is angry because he did it as a wind-up. She reminds him she doesn’t think it was funny either and would feel the same if it had been a woman. She tells him not to let it happen again, or he’s out.
Chelsea comes down the stairs to find utter chaos. Clare is explaining there must have been some sort of a mix-up. Clare asks Chelsea if she can stay and help her. Chelsea says she can’t as she has plans with a smug look on her face. Clare explains that she doesn’t want to make an enemy out of her. Chelsea says, “Oh dear, I’m so scared.” and walks out.
Stacey is having a clear-out sale and is in her element. Jean peeks and sees that Stacey is laughing and has her sparkle back. Mo walks past all dolled up. Tanya is walking by as well when she runs into Chelsea. She asks her how things are going. Chelsea tells her that Clare is a bit out of her depth as she struggles with the booking system, and clients are getting a bit upset. Tanya thanks her for telling her.
Minty is looking at a photo of Hazel and is calling her. He tosses his phone and spies the best mate mug Garry gave him. He smashes it then tears up the photo of him and Hazel. He puts her half in the bin and cleans up his mess.
Heather brings Garry dinner. Garry thanks her. She is curious if Minty’s shown up. He says that he hasn’t. She asks him if he’s heard from Hazel. She’s not ready to give up on the dream of them being bridesmaid and best man. He yells at her that it was never his dream. He just wants his mate back. He tells her he has to get back to work. He gets a text from Minty asking him to come over after work.
Chelsea walks back into the salon, prepared to see Clare gone. Instead, she finds Tanya and Clare at the front desk. Tanya asks her if she enjoyed her nice long lunch seeing as Clare asked her to stay and help her sort it all out. She explains that Clare has far from messed things up, and she’s so impressed with her that she’s decided to make her assistant manager. Tanya tells them both that she can see there needs to be a bit of team building so they’ll stay and have a meeting after work. If things don’t improve, then she’ll be forced to rethink some things. Clare grins at her with a knowing look, and Chelsea looks defeated.
Ian comes out of the cafe and sees Christian. He tells him that he believes Christian owes him an apology. Christian apologizes for using the last of the coffee, and he’ll get some while he’s out.
Steven’s sold out of what he had and hands Stacey the cash. He asks her where she’s taking him for a drink. She tells him she can’t as this money has to cover the next month. She’s got back rent. Ian calls for Steven to come in for a family meeting now!
Ian calls a family meeting with all the kids. He’s determined that the time has come for him to take matters into his own hands. Lucy wonders what it’s all about. Ian delicately tries to say that Christian is different. Lucy says what he’s trying to say is that he doesn’t like Christian because he’s gay. Ian says it’s not that, but he doesn’t want their house turning into a love hotel. Steven agrees with him. Lucy protests, and Peter doesn’t follow it at all. Ian takes a vote and persuades Peter to vote with him based on a new game coming out. The motion carried that Christian can’t turn their home into a love hotel.
Garry excitedly comes in and finds all of his things packed up. Minty explains that they are done for good. Garry pleads with him not to do this. Minty explains that one minute, everything is alright, and a few hours later, Hazel is in the back of a taxi speeding out of his life for good. Minty says Garry was the last person to see her. Garry says, “you know what? You want the honest truth? I was only trying to protect you.” Minty tells him he’s too old and ugly to look after me. So you know what… there is no more Minty a Garry. No more best mates. We are through. He tosses Garry’s bags out and asks for his key. Garry picks up his bags and walks off.
A man walks up to Stacey and mentions she’s had a good day. He tells her that he’s got stock that will fly off her shelves in a day. Stacey declines. He tells her he’s sorry to waste her time. Stacey has second thoughts, and he offers to bring his van around so she can have a look.
Chelsea is cleaning up, and Clare offers to start again. They should try to be friends. Chelsea tells her that she can get her hands dirty for a change. She tells Clare to clean the sinks and take the trash out while she puts her feet up. Clare agrees. Chelsea walks off, and Clare takes a bunch of products off the shelf and puts it in Chelsea’s purse.
Ian is pouring Jane some wine, and she wonders what the occasion is. She wonders what he’s done and where are the kids? He tells her where the kids are. She tells him if it’s about Christian, then she’s dealt with it. He asks her just to hear him out. He’s delighted to be business partners with Christian, but that’s it. Jane smirks and says that she didn’t think he was jumping into bed with him. He tells her that he doesn’t want Christian living with them. Jane tells him to be very careful because he needs Christian as a business partner. That party yesterday wouldn’t have gone off as well without Christian. And what about the kids? They love him being there. Ian tells her they had a meeting.
Lucy has snuck in the back door at this point. Jane thanks him for leaving her out. Ian tells her that the kids don’t like him either. Christian comes in, and Lucy tells him it’s about time he learns what a two-faced liar her dad is. Lucy details that her dad hates gay men, and he made them take a vote as to whether Christian could live there. She tells him she voted to let him stay, and so did Peter until dad bribed him with a game. Jane wonders if this is true? Ian says NO. Lucy says, DAD! Christian tells him that if he wants him out of there, then fine, it’s his house. But if he’s going to treat him like some second class citizen because he doesn’t fancy women, then he’s out because he only wants to work with people I can respect.
Shirley is putting her lippy on when Heather and Garry come in. Shirley tells him she thought they got rid of him. He tells her that he tried Gus, but he’s not back yet. His bag burst on the floor. Shirley tells him not to plan on stopping long as she likes her home to be a man-free zone unless she has some use for him. Heather tells Garry he can share her room. She gets him another bag, and they start to clean up his stuff. Garry tells her that this is his fault. His mum made him lie about why she’s left, so Minty wouldn’t blame himself, but instead, he’s blaming him. Heather deduces that Hazel still loves Minty, and there is hope she will come back. She is determined that Hazel will come back for the photoshoot. Garry is mad because he’s been pouring his heart out, and she’s still going on about that bleeding photo shoot. She tells him Heather Trott never gives up hope.
Stacey thanks her mum for getting her out of trouble. Jean is just happy; she got herself back together. Jean asks what the market inspector had to say. Stacey tells her that he doesn’t need the money until Friday now. He seemed impressed that she was getting her act together. Mo walks up and goes on about how much she paid for her bra and not so much as a sneaky grope. Stacey says she knew she was up to something. Mo swears off men because of Fat Elvis. Stacey gets her a drink to celebrate her life as a nun. A man at the bar makes eyes at Mo, and the whole no more men thing is out the window.
Tanya comes in and says they’ll need to make it quick. Clare and Chelsea agree to get along. Tanya goes to get wine and Chelsea the bottle opener. Clare shoves the products out in the open so Tanya will find it. Tanya fires Chelsea, and Clare stands up for her, saying it’s her fault. Clare tells Tanya that Chelsea wanted to buy it, but she was skint, so she told her it could be taken out of her first paycheck. Tanya feels miserable, apologizes, and gives the products to Chelsea. Oscar starts to cry, and Tanya goes to check on him. Clare stares at Chelsea with a smile.
Mo is back on men, and Stacey doesn’t want to hear it. The salesman comes in and offers to buy them drinks. Stacey introduces Roger to Jean. Mo stops as she sees him come in. He goes to order drinks. Shirley’s phone rings. She tells Phil she has to take it. Mo walks up to Roger and wonders what he’s playing at. She tells him it better be legal or he’s dead.
Shirley is on the phone and is happy. She kisses Phil and tells him her boy is coming home!
Heather leaves a message to stop this nonsense and come home as they know she still loves Minty. She hangs up, kisses her finger to Garry’s forehead and leaves.
Clare tells Chelsea that she did that, so Chelsea would know who’s boss. Chelsea thinks she can go back in and tell Tanya to get Clare fired. Clare wonders who she thinks Tanya will believe? Her or some ex-con she never wanted to hire back in the first place? She tells Chelsea to start behaving herself because now she knows Clare can break her any time she wants.
Minty is drinking and ignoring the doorbell. Minty picks up the phone and tells Garry to stop it. It’s Heather, and she begs him to let her in as it’s freezing. Minty tells her that he knows that the place is a mess, and he likes it. She tells him that there is more to it, and he doesn’t understand. The phone buzzes on the door again. He yells again at Garry; only it’s the magazine. Heather tells him to let them in, and there is still hope. She comes in and tells him she’s been phoning all day. She wonders if he’s been burgled. He tells her some kids broke in earlier. She tells him they can use the pub or somewhere else, but they’ll need to get hair and makeup going. Minty tries to tell her when Heather pops round and introduces herself as Hazel, the bride. Minty looks at her like she’s gone mad.
