Ian’s cell phone rings. Minty comes into the cafe and orders tea. Garry comes in behind her. Garry brings Minty the money for the pram. Minty thanks him and appreciates Garry giving them space over the weekend. Minty tells Garry it’s given him time to think about things. He tells Garry that he feels this might be for the best.
Ian is on the phone and says that this won’t be a problem. He tells the caller it would be an absolute pleasure. Christian comes in with their business plan. Their new name is “Fit for a Queen.” Ian tells him he didn’t agree to that! Christian informs him it’s too late to change as the business cards are printed. Ian says we might be needing them sooner than you think. Christian is ecstatic. He asks what kind of event it is. Ian tells him it’s a children’s party.
Dot is happy the milkman finally turned up. Dot is pleased to have Clare there for the company. Clare says she should be moving on as she has loads of stuff to do. Dot doesn’t seem to want to hear her and says that she can get herself sorted then come back. Dot implies that she won’t need much, just a small contribution to the household. Clare tells Dot she’s a bit short on cash. Dot says not to worry as they’ll be falling over themselves to hire her. Ian is always looking for staff. He is a proper little entrepreneur. She says he has money falling out of his pockets. Clare agrees to stay.
Jean is cleaning the house, and Stacey startles her. Stacey forgot her phone. Jean jumps through the roof. Stacey laments that she has no money to buy new stock. Jean agrees that Stacey has had a rough time of it lately. Jean worries out loud to Stacey that she might be part of her burden. Stacey tells her mum she just needs to keep busy. Jean says that she enjoys taking care of her. Stacey reminds her mum she’s not a kid anymore and doesn’t need to be looked after.
Shirley walks up to Minty and tells him she heard he and Hazel made right prats thinking Hazel was up the duff. Shirley pushes it further and asks Minty if he’d ever done science class. Garry reminds Shirley she should look in the mirror if they are talking over the hill. Shirley says that Hazel was more likely to be pushing a zimmer frame than a pram. Minty is angry and goes for Shirley. Minty looks at Garry and reminds him this is his mum Shirley is talking about. Minty looks at Garry and says now that I think about it you were probably thinking the same thing. He angrily thanks him for his support. Garry calls after Minty and turns to Shirley and says thanks a lot. Shirley looks upset.
Meanwhile, Hazel is looking at herself in the mirror and is distraught. She pulls out pregnancy vitamins from her makeup bag and starts to cry.
Christian and Ian are inspecting the community center. Christian thinks it stinks in there. They discuss the needs, and Christian reminds him of some of what they need isn’t in the budget. Ian hands Christian a twenty and tells he’s the umm creative type he will figure it out. Christian says, you mean I’m gay. Ian’s phone rings, and it’s a councilman who invites him to lunch. Ian says, of course, he can attend. He’s just had a cancellation. Christian reminds him of the task at hand. Ian tells him it will all get done. Christian heads out and spots Roxy. He calls after her. He wonders where she is going. He tells her what Ian’s done. He asks her to help him pick up dry ice and a disco ball. Roxy realizes he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing.
Garry comes looking in the Minty. He’s under a car in the pit. Garry says he thought he was over it. Minty cries he’s not and to get out. Hazel walks up and stands outside as Minty tells Garry how excited he was about this baby. So excited, he shocked himself. He cries that he’s never going to be a dad. Hazel walks away in tears. Garry says it’s not so bad. He’s got a divorce a kid, no girlfriend, no prospects, nada, nothing. Minty wonders why he feels so empty then? Garry asks him, “if you could trade it all in for a young bird, kids, dog the whole thing, would you?” Minty says he wouldn’t. Hazel is his life and his love.
Clare comes into the cafe to return Jane’s dress. Ian tells her she didn’t have to do that. It looked great on her. Clare says it’s not her style. Jane hears this and snatches her dress out of Clare’s hands. Ian asks Clare how things are going at Dot’s. She says it’s okay. He wonders if she will be sticking around. Clare replies that it depends on Ian. He wonders why he? Clare tells him she is going to need a job. Ian tells her that they could use someone with her, uh, assets. Jane, who is standing behind Ian, tells Clare they are a bit overstaffed at the cafe, but they do have another business for which she would be well suited. She grabs her and asks her to follow her.
Heather walks into the Vic and spies Hazel drinking. Heather asks if it’s a bit early to be drinking for her. Hazel tells her she doesn’t have anything else to do. Hazel says she’s an older woman, finished, and she should be knitting. She has no business limping down the aisle having hot flashes. Heather tells Hazel she will get her another round as she certainly needs it.
Jane is reviewing how working in the chippy goes. She tells her to mind the grease as it can leave spots on the skin and clothes. She’ll want to wear her white coat and hat at all times. And then there is the problem of getting the chip fat smell out of your hair. Clare looks repulsed. She tells Jane it is not really the job for her, and they both know it. Clare tells Jane she’s used to working at more sophisticated establishments. Jane tells her it’s probably for the better as she is not sure she’d trust her with the till. Ian’s wallet was a little lighter after Clare’s visit the other night. Clare feigns shock and says, “how dare you!” Clare leaves in a huff, and Jane smiles.
Tanya comes into the laundrette and finds Dot working. Dot says that HEather is awol. Tanya says she was thinking of coming to see Dot as she is sure it’s too quiet in the house. Dot tells her about Clare. Tanya wishes someone would answer her prayers. She says to Dot she hardly sees the kids, and she’s short-staffed at the salon. Dot quotes scripture to Tanya to give her hope. Tanya says she hopes it comes true for her. Just as Tanya turns to leave, she runs into Jean. They stare at one another but do not speak. Jean brings the laundry up to Dot. Dot wonders why she’s doing them again as she had done them last week. Jean tells her that Stacey thinks she’s just making work for herself. Jean tells Dot she’s driving Stacey a bit mad.
Chelsea comes into the salon. She tells Tanya she’s gotten her bracelet off. Tanya tells her that is nice. Chelsea asks Tanya for her old job back. Tanya replies she doesn’t think it’s a good idea.
Ian comes in with laundry and calls out for Dot. He is in a rush, but she shushes him and says she will try but can’t promise. Jean offers to help tag it in. She asks Dot how to do it. Dot walks her through it. Jean hands him the ticket. Ian wishes his staff had her customer service skills. Jean is pleased with herself. Dot offers her a chance to cover her shifts when she goes to visit Jim. Jean gets flustered and leaves without drinking her tea. Clare comes in. Dot asks her how it went with Ian. Clare tells her that Jane doesn’t seem to like her very much. She thinks she would be better to move on. Dot tells her not to leave. Dot tells Clare about Tanya just having been in and looking for staff. Clare asks, “Tanya?” Dot explains that she’s her daughter-in-law, well sort of, and she could put in a good word. Dot tells her that the salon is a bit more upmarket and right up Clare’s ally. Clare is encouraged.
Yolande speaks to Chelsea for just giving up after one set back. Yolande tells Chelsea she thought she had more backbone. Chelsea tells her that people have made their minds up about her.
Ian comes in dressed in a suit. Jane wonders what the heck he’s pulling as they have the catering to do. She tells him he can’t just dump this into Christian’s lap. He tells him he wouldn’t do that. He pulls out the menu and tells her it will be easy for her. Jane wonders how she’s supposed to do that and run the cafe. Ian tells her that he’s always hearing about how great women are at multi-tasking. It should be a breeze for her. He leaves, and Jane is agitated.
Heather comes to get Garry as his mum is in a right state. Garry wonders why Hazel and Minty don’t just talk to one another. Heather tells him that she is anxious about her. Garry plans to get them together and get this under control. Hazel is sitting, looking at a photo of her and Minty. She begins to sob.
Stacey comes into the kitchen and finds Mo shaving her legs at the table. Stacey tells her there aren’t many lining up to run their hands down Mo’s legs. Mo tells her she would be surprised. Mo tells Stacey she got a call from someone in the council. Stacey tears up the note.
Roxy comes out to find she’s getting a parking ticket. She tries to flirt her way out of it. The police officer tells her to back off and let him do his job. Christian asks her to let him handle it. Roxy tells him he’s wasting his time. She comes out and finds Christian getting the cops’ number.
Tanya is in the salon. Dot calls her and asks her to give Clare a chance. Oscar is crying, and Tanya tells Dot she’ll give her a chance but only because it’s Dot. Yolande comes in. Tanya tells her that they are entirely booked. Yolande asks her to hear her out about Chelsea. Tanya isn’t sure she can take a risk on her. Yolande says, “there must have been a time in your life when you made a mistake, and someone gave you a second chance. Yolande asks Tanya to give that same consideration to Chelsea.
Garry, Minty, and Heather are sitting in Heather’s apartment. Minty wonders what is going on. They promise him nothing is amiss, and Hazel is probably putting on some slap. Minty attempts to leave and talk to Hazel. They stop him and Garry runs off to bring her round.
Tanya has both Chelsea and Clare there for an interview. She says to them that she is short on time. Mo comes in and interrupts, asking for a wax job. Tanya tells her it would be at full price. Mo is not for it. Tanya then looks at Clare and Chelsea and says that she has two trainees there and could offer it at a considerable discount. Mo is a game.
Garry runs into the apartment and finds Hazel fixing her scarf. He tells her to come on as she looks gorgeous. She walks into the living room and grabs her case. She tells him she’s leaving. Garry demands she unpack, and he will not let her do this to his best mate. Hazel tells Garry that it’s just not working out, and it’s time to leave. She tells him that this change is like a whole new beginning and her life starting over. She thinks this is what he wanted. He tells her what he wants is for her to stop. She tells Garry that he’s told her enough times they weren’t meant to be together. It’s for the best. Garry tells her, “the best? For who? For Minty? For me? You’ll never find another person that loves her like Minty.” He tells her, “what a surprise! You’re going to end up like some old hag in a hostel.” Hazel tells him she is not going to take away Minty’s right to be a father. Garry tells her Minty loves her. Hazel gives Garry a final task. She tells Garry he’s going to have to tell Minty she never loved him, and it’s over. Garry says he can’t do that. Hazel tells Garry it’s the only way she’s going to set him free.
Clare is waxing Mo’s legs. Mo screams in pain. She tells Clare it’s too hot. Clare does it again, and Mo tells her it’s ripped her skin off. Tanya comes in. Mo tells her she’ll take childbirth over this any day. Chelsa waxes her and says, “see Mrs. Harris, it can be almost painless if done correctly by a professional.” Mo says she’ll have the rest off but keep that torturing psycho away. Tanya agrees and says she’s seen enough. She tells Clare to leave them to it.
Christian and Roxy are done setting up. Roxy asks where Ian is. She wonders where the food is.
Tanya is walking Chelsea out. Clare comes in as she forgot her scarf. Chelsea takes the opportunity to tell Tanya she’ll see her in the morning. Oscar starts to cry, and the phone starts ringing. Clare asks Tanya if she wants her to get that. Tanya says no at first, but Clare convinces her. Clare answers and handles the call well. Tanya is impressed.
Christian demands to know where Ian is. He also wonders why Jane is doing the food. Ian comes stumbling in tipsy. Christian is angry with Ian as he booked this party. Ian says he was getting them contacts, and he’s not drunk. Ian tells him he didn’t exactly get any new contacts, but it’s professional relationship building. Christian is angry with Ian.
Garry comes back and tells Minty that Hazel is gone. Garry does his best to convince Minty that Hazel is gone and doesn’t love him anymore. Minty can’t understand and doesn’t believe him. Garry tells Minty that she don’t love him anymore.
Christian and Roxy salvage the party. Christian tells Ian that from now on, he’s the manager, and Ian is in charge of the fairy cakes.
Hazel is standing in front of the cab. She gets in, and just as it pulls off, Minty comes running up. He yells for her not to leave. Minty yells after her that he loves her and not to go. He has tears streaming down his face. Hazel turns to see him, and tears flow down her face. Garry walks up and tells Minty it’s not about him. She always does this. Garry has her ring and hands it to Minty. Minty tells him, “Don’t.” Garry says don’t what? Minty congratulates him because he’s got what he’s wanted. Minty tells Garry there is only one person to blame for this, and that is Garry. He takes the ring and punches Garry.
