Jack is at the club with photos of his daughter in front of him. Music plays over the scenes. Jase is at the hospital with Jay. He finds the knife. Dot is fearful of going out but is out of cigarettes.
Yolande walks up to the fruit and veg and asks if something has happened? Billy asks if she hasn’t heard about little Jay? Minty asks what that little toe-rag has been up to? He tells Yolande, Billy, and the other market traders about what Jay and the gang did at the playground yesterday. Billy tells them Jay’s been stabbed. Yolande says, “Poor little lad” as Minty looks upset.
Dot gets the door open but cannot go outside for fear of the E20 gang.
Ronnie walks into the club as workers whistle at her. She calls out to Jack as he’s chained the club door. Inside, Jack sighs. Ronnie calls Jack’s mobile. Jack doesn’t answer. Ronnie sees the workers van and finds bolt cutters. Garry asks if she’s breaking and entering? Ronie wonders if he’s going to stop her? She hands the bolt cutters back. She goes into the club looking for Jack and finds the bottle of scotch and a photo of Jack and his family. She hears the fire escape door slam.
Dawn is with Jase at the hospital. She tries to comfort him by reminding him that the doctor said there wouldn’t be any permanent damage despite the loss of blood. Jase is upset because he’s just not sure what Jay was thinking of hanging out with those kids. Dawn tells him not to be too harsh on him. Jase tells her that this wouldn’t have happened if he’d be there with Jay. If he hadn’t been watching her kid getting her pictures taken and instead at home looking out for his own kid, this wouldn’t have happened. Dawn reminds him that they couldn’t have known this would happen. Jase responds by pointing out that it wouldn’t have happened at all if he’d had his priorities right and not pouncing on with her and her daughter. Dawn tells him maybe he shouldn’t from now on. He tells her he shouldn’t and walks off. Dawn is shocked. Jase is upset, and the doctor comes out.
Yolande brings Dot a few staples. Dot tells her she would have been able to come to get them. Yolande says she was under the impression Dot was upset. Yolande says that Heather said to her that Dot had missed work yesterday. Dot tells her that she is feeling a bit fluey; that is why she has her coat on because she keeps getting chilled. Dot pays Yolande and tries to send her on. Yolande, instead, sits down to visit. She tells Dot about Minty and Garry in the Vic the night before. She asks Dot if she’s heard about what happened to poor little Jay? Dot has not so Yolande fills her in that he’s been stabbed. Dot replies, “Good. The Lord has acted, and the Lord is good.” Yolande is taken aback by Dot’s response. Dot tells her that if you run with the devil and he will smite you.
Shabnam is cleaning up spilled coffee with Zainab comes in. Zainab is cross with Shabnam and orders her to get it cleaned up because they do not need to be worried about being sued. Shabs begins to protest and Zainab details all the reasons someone could sue them. Masood comes in, and Shabnam tells him she thought all the issues between Mum and Shirley were over. Mas tells her they are, as of last night. Shabs asks why Zainab is stomping around like a bear then? He tells Shabs that Zainab was nothing but light and sweetness with him. Masood tells Shabs that she and Tam should make themselves scarce tonight. Shabnam agrees, and her Dad leaves. Zainab is cross, and Shabs asks her what is wrong. Zainab snaps at her to mind her own business and not spill things again.
Dot has told Yolande about the boys breaking into her house. Yolande asks if she saw them in her home? Dot relays that she only saw Jay but the others must have been there by the state of the place. Yolande inquires as to why she hasn’t called the police yet. Dot tells Yolande that it would only make things worse. Yolande replies, “Dorothy!” Dot begs her not to say anything. Jay told her they wouldn’t come back. Yolande asks her if she’s been holed up inside that whole time since? Dot tells her she has to incase her budgie comes back. Yolande tells her she understands. When Patrick was attacked, it was not the physical damage; it was what it did to him in his mind that was the worse. He thought the whole world was against him. Yolande tries to get Dot to call the police but Dot protest that it will only make it worse. Dot tells Yolande that it’s ok now as the chief culprit is not here now and is in hospital. Yolande wonders what will happen when he returns. Dot begs her not to do anything.
Garry comes out of the cafe, and Hazel is out on the market. She asks him to do his number from the night before for her. He says it was a one-off and he won’t be repeating. She has some of the traders lined up, and they dance to Cotton Eyed Joe. Garry is mortified when she tells them she might have some photos of him dancing.
Christian enters the cafe, and he and Jane discuss the romantic night she had with Ian. He tells her he’s never looking after those kids again. She’s all smiles as Ian comes in with the last bit of catering for the order they have. Jane tells him she’s working as fast as she can. Ian mentions that it’s only for twenty people, and Christian notices it’s two hundred, not twenty. Ian gulps and looks at Jane and Christian.
Jack is washing his face as his phone rings. It’s Ronnie. He tosses his phone. Ronnie is in the kitchen at the Vic. Roxy wonders what is wrong. Ronnie tries to convince her that nothing is wrong. Roxy tells Ronnie that her face gives her away. Roxy says she warned her that it would end in tears.
Jase is in with Jay. Jase wants to know what’s been going on? Jay tells him nothing. Jase wonders why he had a knife. Jay tells him that they were messing about, and he didn’t have a knife. Jase pulls out Jay’s knife. Jase asks Jay what this is then as he holds up the knife. Jay tells him he wasn’t going to use it. Jase tells Jay that if you carry one of these (holding up the knife again), then it will either be used by you or against you. Jase tells him that his mate certainly used his, didn’t he? Jay tells Jase that Tegs is not his mate. Jase asks Jay what he was doing with him, then? Jay asks him what he wants him to say? Jase tells him that he wants him to tell him what has been going on! Jay tells him that he got in a spot of bother, but it’s sorted now, alright? Jase says he can see that alright. Jase says he didn’t know what to think when the police came to his door to tell him that his son had been stabbed. Jase tells him, “do you know what I thought?” Jay tells him it’s ok because he’s indestructible! Jase tells Jay that he is not. The police arrive to question Jay.
Ian is on the phone confirming that the party was indeed for two hundred. They argue, but Jane gets Christian to help as it’s all hands on deck to get the order filled.
Minty and Hazel are curious as to why the other finalist wants to meet up with them.
Dawn is back on the square, and Mickey asks her about Jay. She tells Mickey that he’s better than she can say about his idiot, Dad. Mickey doesn’t understand. Dawn tells him she went off on her for no reason. She tells Mickey to give her a few as she needs a drink. Mickey tells her she’s not the only one as Summer has been bawling all day. She pushes past him and heads into the Vic.
Ian is running through the market and bumps into Yolande. He then bumps into Billy and drops his keys down the drain. He reaches in to grab them, and his hand is stuck.
The police want to know how this happened and who did this to him. Jay tells him he didn’t see anything. The cop says it’s odd as it would be hard to miss the person who stabbed you in the front of the leg. The cop tells him he understands that he upset someone and he’s worried it might happen again. Jase speaks up and tells the cops that Jay has no idea who did it or why they did it.
Selena is coming home with Penny when Jack arrives. Penny is excited to see her Dad. Jack says he thought he would surprise her. Selena quips about there being a bunch of surprises lately. Penny teases that Mum is talking about his new girlfriend! Jack tells Penny he’s brought her gifts. Penny asks if she can open them now, and both Selena and Jack say no. Penny tells them she already knows what it is anyway as she heard Mum screaming down the other end of the phone at him. Selena asks her if she listens to every conversation in this flat? Penny tells her she does as she’s nosey! Jack asks them out for a meal as an early birthday celebration. Penny begs her mum, and she finally relents.
Ian has quite the crowd around him now as he explains to Jane and Christian how his hand got stuck. They all wonder why he can’t pull it back out. Billy teases that something is holding on to it. Christian declares they need the fire brigade. Ian starts barking orders as he’s kneeled down on the ground. He finally notices his audience. Jane tells him they can handle it and to hand her the car keys. He begins to explain that is how this happened when he drops the keys down further. Christian spots Roxy and says he needs her. She tells him it’s typical as the first bloke in weeks to say that to her and he’s a ginger.
Jase is getting a coffee, and the cop comes to speak with him. Jase tells him his son didn’t see anything. The cop tells him this person who’s done this to Jay now thinks he can do this to anyone now, can’t he. He tries to convince Jase to remember that things don’t work the way they did when he got banged up. The cop tells Jase he’s been checking upon him. Jase again tells him that his son doesn’t know anything.
Dawn is having a drink when Minty asks about Jay. She wonders why everyone thinks she’s him, mum, now or something. Minty says she kind of is since she took up with Jase. Dawn says she’ll have to see, won’t she? A lady walks up to Minty asking if it’s him. He says yes, and she looks at Dawn and mistakes her for Hazel. Her eyes light up when she finds that Dawn is not Hazel. Hazel is taken offense to the treatment.
Minty, Ian, and Billy are outside the Vic. Minty begins to tell Ian about a bloke who had to have this special equipment to cut the metal open. Ian is not amused. Dawn comes out, and Minty is happy to pass Summer over except Dawn tells him to keep Summer a bit longer.
Jack, Selena, and Penny are out for a meal. Penny asks if he has to be at work? Selena tells Penny her Dad’s business partner is very understanding. Selena wonders what is going on? He apologizes for Ronnie being out of order. Selena thinks they’ve broken up and he’d run back to them. He says not at all. Penny says they are near his flat and can’t they go see it?
Donna questions Hazel and Minty about themselves and their wedding. Donna insults Hazels age. Donna gets a call, and Minty takes the time to tell Hazel that they are worried or they wouldn’t have come. The door opens, and they hear Donna telling her fiance that they’ve got this in the bag.
The fire brigade is there to get Ian’s hand out. Christian and Roxy arrive with the stock. Ian questions them as to if they picked up the right things. Christian teases the fire brigade to leave him down there.
Jack, Selena, and Penny come to his flat. Jack tells her he may be moving as soon as tomorrow. Ronnie comes out of his flat and Jack says he’ll see her later. Penny makes a joke about Ronnie looking miserable. He shows them his flat.
Hazel says they will have to fight fire with fire. Hazel tells him that Donna was bothered when she thought Dawn was her. She eludes to Dawn maybe replacing Heather as a bridesmaid.
Jase gets Jay back in bed. Jay tells his Dad he’s not going to grass anyone up, just like his Dad wouldn’t. Dawn shows up, and Jay wonders what this is? Dawn tells them both that one of them doesn’t have the sense he was born with and the other she just doesn’t know. They only way this doesn’t happen again is that they get together properly and start building something. This way, Jay doesn’t end up in the hospital or worse prison for messing with some little hooligan. Jay tells his Dad to tell Dawn. Jase doesn’t speak up. Dawn looks at him and says, “Jase?”
Zainab comes home to find Masood only dressed in an apron cooking her dinner. She wonders whats brought all this on? He tells her the kids won’t be back for an hour. She starts to say that if this is about yesterday and he stops her and says it’s about spending time with his wife. The phone rings, and he goes to answer. She pulls an envelope out of her pocket and goes in to speak to him, but something is wrong.
Jack is talking to Penny. Selena peeks in and smiles.
Ian hurries into the cafe to find Jane and Christian have done it.
Jack comes out of Penny’s room and says he best be getting off. Selena says that she thought he was going to spend the whole day with Penny. He replies that he is. Selena tells him the day starts when she wakes up. Meanwhile, Ronnie is looking for Jack at the club but is disappointed that he’s not there.
Selena comes back with a wine in her hands. Jack takes it and tells Selena he’ll make the bed up. She kisses him and heads to her bedroom, telling Jack to come on.
