Roxy is standing outside of the Vic and spies Ronnie in front of Jack’s on the phone. Ronnie is on the phone, leaving Jack a message and tells him that she and he are one thing but him not turning up to the club last night, that’s business. Christian has walked up to speak with Roxy. He tells her to ask him about last night and the catering job. Roxy walks away without speaking. Ronnie has gone into the flat and pushes play on the answering machine. Selena has left him a message that they need to talk about last night. Roxy walks in as the message is playing. Ronnie wants to know what Roxy is doing there. Roxy tells her it’s a bit desperate innit? Ronnie tells Roxy that she just needed to talk to him about a work matter? Roxy says that he obviously doesn’t want to see her. Ronnie asks Roxy what business it is of hers, anyway? Roxy asks her what happened to that great Ronnie Mitchell pride? Roxy says alright so he’s off bedding some tart so what? Ronnie pushes past Roxy. Roxy tells her not to push her. Ronnie’s necklace has broken and falls to the floor. Roxy apologizes as Ronnie walks out.
Shabnam is walking past the cafe and Ian ask her if her old man has overslept? Ian tells her he’s expecting an important delivery. Christian walks up, and Ian explains he’ll have to wait as they haven’t received the order yet. Christian says he has something else to show him.
Shabnam walks into the house as Masood is on the phone. Shabnam asks if there is any news? Masood’s father has had a heart attack. Tam tells them that he read up that it is good news as the first few hours after a heart attack is the most difficult. Masood hangs up and tells them that his father is in intensive care again. He tells Zainab he must be there as his family needs support. She asks him if that is a good idea as there is not much he can do. Masood says he can say goodbye. Mas tells Tam he must stay there as he can’t miss school. Shabs will look after the business. Zainab asks what she will be doing. Masood tells her she will be with him, of course. Zainab replies, of course. Masood says he must get to the travel agency. Zainab says she can take Tam’s laptop to the office and book them online. She tells Masood he needs to be there close to the phone.
Dot is wondering if there is a rotation going as Heather has looked in on her three times now and now Yolande is there. She tells Yolande with all the interruptions she’s never going to get her dusting done. Yolande tells her that Jay is coming out of the hospital today. She didn’t want Dot to bump into him out on the square without knowing.
Dawn asks Jase what does he mean he just walked out? Jase tells her he doesn’t know. One minute he was there with the nurses, and the next he was gone. Dawn says he’s walked out? Jase tells Dawn that’s what it looks like he’s done. He was hoping he would be there at the flat. Dawn reminds him she’s been there all day sussing the place out for him to come home. Jase says” he hopes Jay hasn’t gone looking for those toe-rags that attacked him” then stops his next thought. Dawn says he’d have to be completely stupid to do something stupid like. Jase interrupts her and says, “like what? Go ahead and say it, stupid like me?”
Ronnie finds Jack in the club cleaning. He tells her they have the events coordinator coming by today. He wonders if she’s forgotten. He says it could be a regular booking for them every fortnight and would be good with Christmas coming. Ronnie tells him they were busy last night. Jack tells her he had things to do. Ronnie replies, such as? He tells her it is his business.
Roxy is looking at the broken locket necklace. Christian walks up and says it’s nice. Roxy says it was, it’s Ron’s favorite. Christian wonders how she did that. Roxy replies that she didn’t and looks at him with a frown on her face. He says, “oh.” Roxy says it is her favorite and means the world to her. Christian says that accidents happen though. Roxy tells him it wasn’t an accident.
Hazel comes into the cafe, and Minty asks if she is hungry. Hazel is starving but would rather not eat what he has in front of her as it has 300 calories. Minty asks her when she’ll start eating again? She says after the wedding. He tells her that it is months away. Heather has come in, and Hazel tells Minty that today must be the day that he tells Heather she’s not in the wedding. Hazel says the girl has a heart of gold but well, look at her, she’s not cut out for the designer event they are going for. Hazel tells Minty he should tell Heather today. He looks at Hazel and says: ME? She responds that she is doing her bit, and it’s time for him to do his part.
Steven comes into the cafe and notices Ian and Christian, heads together, looking at a computer screen. He comments to Jane that they look cozy. She says it’s nice they are getting along. Steven questions it, and Jane does agree that now that he mentions it, this is a bit strange the two of them getting on so well. Steven makes a cheeky remark about Christian having turned Ian. He steals some toast and heads out. Jane walks over to Ian and Christian and asks if it is anything interesting. Ian closes the laptop and says no, there isn’t.
Yolande’s mobile rings and she asks what’s wrong? Dot is looking out of her window, and Jay is there at her door. Yolande hurries over.
Zainab is on the computer to book the flights. She is hesitant and looks over at and Urgent notice from the bank. She ultimately clicks just one person to fly to Karachi.
Christian’s mobile rings and he takes the call outside. Jane takes the opportunity to peek at the laptop screen and sees a website for RocketLove.com for men. Jase comes in and inquires if she’s seen, Jay? She tells him she hasn’t seen him. Jase leaves, and Jane looks at the screen again.
Yolande calls out to Dot to let her in. Dot opens the door, and it’s Yolande and Jay. She tells Yolande that she does not want Jay in her house. Yolande brings Jay in with her. Yolande tells Dot that Jay has something for her. Dot says she doesn’t want whatever it is. Jay pulls a budgie in a cage from behind his back. Dot asks if he thinks that by bringing her the budgie that it will make everything alright? Yolande says, “Dorothy,” to nudge her to listen. Dot tells Yolande, “he stole my keys, wrecked my room and terrorized my Georgie and Robin.” Jay says he’s sorry. Dot looks at Jay and asks him if he thinks that will make everything alright? He can just pop into the nearest pet shop, and all will be forgiven? Jay says, why didn’t he just let them come back then? Then he wouldn’t have this (points at the budgie). Dot tells Jay that he shouldn’t have been with them in the first place. He hands the budgie to Yolande and leaves.
Ronnie wonders what this event is that the event coordinator wants to discuss with them. Jack tells her he thinks it’s dance night. Ronnie asks him if it’s hip hop, salsa, tea? Jack tells her if she can’t keep her foul mood in check then maybe he should talk to the punter alone. Ronnie tells him maybe he should as she has to run this place on her own. Ray Walters comes in and introduces himself to Ronnie and Jack. He looks the place over, and Ronnie asks him what his first impression is. He tells her and Jack that it’s warm and cozy. They discuss the event, and he makes sure he can have the whole club to themselves. Ronnie tells him it depends on the numbers. Ray tells them they have about two hundred members and on average, about 75% attend on a club night. Ronnie and Jack like the numbers and ask him exactly what his club will be doing. Ray looks at them and says that it was in the email. Ronnie and Jack haven’t seen the email. Jack says he just got a phone call. Ray says they don’t know then what they do. He hands them a card. He explains that it is all above board, nothing weird or anything. Ronnie reads the card and says they are nudist? Ray corrects her and says they are a naturalist. Ray explains that it’s hard to find a decent place in the winter months. The club is perfect as it has no windows or anything for perverts to peek in. Jack looks at him and says that perhaps he and Ronnie could join in. She replies that it would be a bit awkward if they didn’t. They say the staff wouldn’t mind either and that Dawn barely wears anything anyhow. Jack says it might be a bit tough on Jase at the door. Ronnie replies that Jase is from the north, they make them hard up there. Ray asks if he can have a look around. Ronnie and Jack tell him to please feel free. Jack and Ronnie have a laugh at the thought. Jack tells her it’s not going to happen. She teases and says he knew about this. He swears he didn’t. The icy tone that was between them has melted away. He starts to tell Ronnie something when Selena walks in. Selena asks Ronnie to give them a few minutes. Ronnie asks if it’s unfinished business? Selena tells Ronnie that she couldn’t have put it any better. Ronnie storms off.
Minty comes into the laundrette and nearly gets lassoed by Heather. She tells him she’s been practicing and she will get better as she doesn’t want to let them down. Minty tells her that if it’s too much, she just has to say. Heather says she wouldn’t! This is going to be the best day of his life and hers. Minty can’t crush her with Hazel’s request.
Dot has put the budgie in the cage. Yolande tells her that she thinks the birds will get on. Dot wonders how Robbie is going to feel when he comes back to find a cuckoo in the nest? She says well not a cuckoo… oh you know what I mean. Yolande tells Dot that Jay was just trying to put things right. Dot tells her it’s too late. He’s bad, and that is that. Yolande tells her surely she doesn’t mean that he can’t change. Dot tells her that she used to believe people could, but she was fooled too many times. Dot says she used to believe that about her Nick and look where that got her. Yolande tells Dot that Jay is just a child. Yolande says that Dot has never given up on anyone yet and she doesn’t think she will now. Dot asks her if she’s meant to let bygones be bygones? Yolande tells Dot she didn’t say that.
Masood is finishing his packing when Zainab comes in. She tells him that she’s booked the ticket, but there was only one seat. He’s the priority as it’s him his Dad will want to see. Mas tells her to come to the airport with him, and maybe there will be a cancellation. She tells him no, she should stay back and get a few things sorted. Mas tells her that he wanted her there with him. She yells at him “what do you want me to do? Tell the airline to grow another row of seats?” She apologizes, and so does Mas.
Christian is back in front of the laptop. Jane tells Ian that it is nice to see him and her brother getting along. Ian smiles at Jane. Jane wonders what they are up to. Ian tells her that he will tell her when they are at home, as there are too many flapping ears around. Jane’s mood shifts, and she asks him if it is private then? Ian tells her that he will tell her when they get home as he has a little announcement to make. He walks back over to Christian, smiles and looks over Christian’s shoulder at the screen. Jane is super curious and annoyed at this.
Jase is on the phone with one of Jay’s mates asking if he’s seen, Jay. Jay comes in as he’s explaining to the mate he only called because he was a friend of Jay’s. Jase asks Jay if he’s been out getting revenge? Jay tells him no he’s been saying he’s sorry, playing Mr. Nice Guy but we all know where that gets you. Dawn answers the knock on the door, and it’s Dot.
Ronnie comes out into the pub carrying an overnight bag. Christian asks her if she’s going somewhere? She tells him anywhere but there.
Selena tells Jack how disappointed Penny was that he was not there when she woke up. It is her birthday, after all. Jack says he knows, but they both know what would have happened if he’d stayed. Selena tells him it wouldn’t have been any different than before. Jack answers that it would because things are different now. Selena says it’s not stopped them in the past. He tells her that there is no future in it. Selena wonders if it’s because he can see a future with someone else? He says, maybe. Selena mentions Ronnie. Jack replies that it is something like that. She asks if she is truly in the past now. He tells her that she will never be and Penny will make sure of that. She tells him she’s been thinking about the future. Selena tells Jack that she was going to tell him last night before he left that she and Penny are moving. Jack wonders where to? She tells him to France to live with her parents. Jack demands to know if this is payback for not sleeping in her bed. She tells him no, it’s not. But they both know neither of them can move on if they keep sleeping together and nothing is ever sorted. He tells her moving to France is unfair, taking Penny away from him like that. She tells him she can’t move on like this. They start to kiss.
Dot asks Jay why? Why did he come into her house and let her budgie out of the cage? He says he didn’t let the budgie out. She said it doesn’t matter you let them into my home. He tells her that it seemed like a laugh. Dot says “and now it doesn’t? Why?” Jay tells Dot he’s said he’s sorry. She reminds him he said he was sorry in the laundrette. She believed him, and let him go back to get some biscuits, and all the while, he was taking her keys. Was that a laugh too? Lulled her into a false sense of security, and instead, he let his friends into her home. Jay tells her they aren’t his friends anymore, and they won’t bother you anymore. She asks if she should believe him? She was shaking on the walk over there. This is her home, and she was brought up here. But now she feels like she’s living on another planet. She tells him that her Nick used to say sorry and she believed him. He’d say, “sorry, ma, I learnt my lesson this time.” I believed him as he stood there all wide-eyed just like you right now. She asks Jay if he means it and they ain’t his friends no more then why haven’t the police been round to get her side of the story? If he got hurt because he was standing up to his hoodlum friends on her account, then they should have been round getting her side of the story building their case. Jay wonders what case? She tells him the case that his friends who he says aren’t his friends anymore hurting him like that. Jay tells her that it’s handled and they won’t bother her anymore. Dot tells him that it’s not over, not until he properly proves it. You do that by going to the police by telling them what happened and them sort it out. Jay tells Dot that is not how this works. She tells him he’s just like her Nick, all words. Jay tells her that she doesn’t know what she’s saying. She tells him he can say sorry and can until he’s blue in the face just like Nick did. She’s not going to let him though. She’s going to make him accountable, and it’s not words but actions that count.
Roxy asks Christian what Ronnie meant. He tells Roxy that he got the distinct impression that anywhere was better than here. Roxy looks at the mended necklace. Christian tells her that it will take more than that necklace to bring her back round.
Minty comes in and tells Hazel he couldn’t do it. She has her heart set on it. Hazel stands up and is dizzy. She tells him that he will find away. After all, Heather is not really that bothered about the wedding. Minty reminds her that it is all Heather has been talking about for months. Hazel breaks it to him that Heather has it in her mind that she and Garry will end up together as it’s a tradition for the Best Man to pop off with the Bridesmaid. Minty laughs. Hazel tells him to keep laughing, but she is going to find a way to get the two of them together. Mum knows best. She stands up and is dizzy again. Minty says she is not ok, and it’s this diet. She is ill on her stomach.
Christian and Ian come in. Ian goes through, and Jane asks Christian what is going on. She could barely get them to share a civil word, and now they are holed up together working on something. She wonders what the big announcement is. Ian comes through and tells her they discussed it last night after she went to bed. Jane looks a bit afraid of what they are going to say. Ian tells her that they are getting together in a civil partnership! Jane is stunned until Ian starts laughing. He tells her they are going to start booking gay weddings. He never knew how many there were!
Roxy comes into the club and calls out to Ronnie. She’s reading a note and walks to the office. She spots Jack and Selena making out in the office.
Jase tells Jay that he has done his bit, and there is no need to go to the cops. Jay asks Jase if it stopped his friends from coming after him even though he didn’t go to the cops? Jase doesn’t have an answer but to say that was different. Jay asks him what he’s meant to do. Jase tells Jay he doesn’t have to go to the cops. Jay tells him he feels like Mrs. Branning wouldn’t bottle it up even if it meant they’d come after her. He wonders what the right thing to do is.
Ian fills Steven in on the new business venture. Ian explains that sometimes you have to get in bed with different people. Steven looks at him. Ian explains, metaphorically! Ian lets Steven know that even though you are there once you’ve got what you need, you don’t have to stay there. Christian tells Jane much the same.
Yolande is walking home when she sees the police heading into Jay’s apartment.
Roxy comes back to the Vic. Christian asks if she got hold of Ronnie. She doesn’t speak.
The police come in, and Jase tells them his son would like to make a statement. At Dot’s, Yolande arrives and lets her know that the police have just arrived at the Dyers.
Selena and Jack discuss what happens next. She lays it all out. He doesn’t want her any more than she wants him. He asks her what this was all about then? She says that sometimes she wishes they didn’t love each other anymore but what happened to Penny never changed that fact. But she looks at him now, and one half of her loves him and then she looks at Penny, and the other half hates him. Can he see that this is not about revenge but about getting her head straight? This is the only way they can move forward. They both know that they fall back into each other’s arms as a way to pretend it never happened. She kisses him and leaves. Jack opens the office door and finds a note from Roxy to Ronnie. He knows he’s been seen.
Zainab tells her to call her when he gets there. He makes her promise to keep trying to get there. She promises. Tam walks up. He asks if something has happened to his grandfather. She tells him there is no new information. He wonders why she’s upset. She tells him she’s lied to him, to everyone.
Jack is walking in front of the pub when he looks up. Roxy is looking down on him. She pulls the curtains. Jack knows she saw him and Selena.
