Jase looks in as Honey is crying. He walks past Peggy, and she asks him what is wrong. Peggy runs to the door and hears Billy tell Honey the doctors know what they are doing. Jase calls Dawn and tells her the baby is dead. He asks to speak to Jay. Dawn gets up and wakes Jay up. Jay asks where his dad is. Jase tells him he’s loved being his Dad, but he’s no good at it. He tells Jay its best he goes before anyone else gets hurt. Jay wonders what he’s done wrong. Jase tells Jay that he’ll get Bert back and Jay tells him he’ll be good. Jase tells him he loves him and hangs up.
Peggy and Minty hear the baby start to cry. The doctors hand the baby to Billy and Honey. He’s breathing and going to be fine.
Jase leaves the hosptial headed for the Bridge Street Snooker Hall.
Lucy’s phone rings and she goes to see who it is.
The police start a search for the guys who attacked the pub. Ronnie delivers the news about the baby to those still in the pub. Roxy says they’ll need help cleaning up and everyone says they’ve got to head out. Ronnie tells them she will have to answer questions about what happened tonight and she can either paint them in a good light or bad one. Garry and Gus agree to stay to help. Phil walks in as they open a bottle of champagne.
Steven and Lucy are at the cafe. Steven tells her that he is going back to New Zealand. Lucy asks him why? He tells her that he went to see Jane and she flipped out, and dad came back and threw him out on the street. He asks Lucy for the key to the chippy so he can sleep there for the night. She tells him she can get him stuff to sleep in her dad’s van.
Peggy looks up to see Phil. He goes in and congratulates them. Honey has a go at him for selling their home from underneath them. Phil says it wasn’t part of the plan and if they are going to be angry they should be angry with Ms. Patel. Phil pulls Billy aside and discusses the night’s events. Honey tells them both she doesn’t want anything happening to Jase. Billy tells her if it weren’t for him Honey wouldn’t be in this situation. Honey tells them both that she was the only thing Jase had. She tells Phil if she hears anything has happened to Jase she will never forgive him.
Bird is boasting about their night and the events. He compliments them for all their accomplishments. Jase runs in and punches Bird.
Lucy is looking for the keys to the van. Peter comes in, and she tells him he has to take them to Steven. Peter wonders why Steven can’t come in. Lucy tells him Dad can’t know and Ian comes in and asks what can’t he know. Peter tells him that Steven is there. Ian tells Lucy she’s not giving him the keys to the van. She tells him that Steven is going back to New Zealand. Ian tells her he doesn’t care and they are going back in to watch the film as a family. Jane tells him she doesn’t want Steven anywhere near her. Peter is confused as he doesn’t know the secret. Jane mentions the many secrets in the family. Peter pouts, as does Lucy and Jane looks frightened.
Jase is laying on the ground and Terry walks up and gives him a nudge with his foot. He tells Jase to get up.
Dawn makes Jay more food, and he tells her he’s not hungry. Dawn tells him she knows what his dad said to him. Jay tells her he doesn’t care. She tells him she thinks he does as he’s mad about his dad. Jay says he isn’t bothered. His mom’s dead, his nan, is dead, and his granddad can’t be bothered. Now his dad has given up on him. He knows he’ll go into care and it will only be for a few years, and then he’ll have his place with a big telly and lots of parties. He says there is a teacher in his school that calls him the devil child. He thinks he must be right.
Pat is walking Terrance. Terrance is nudging a person sleeping on the bench. She sees it’s Steven.
Terry takes Jase to the hospital. Jase wonders why he took him there. He tells him the gutter is no place to die. Terry tells him he’s love to retire as his wife is ready to leave the East End for the seaside. Terry thought he would leave it all to Jase. Jase tells him he doesn’t want it. He looks at his son and the way Jay looks at him and respects him and if he knew what he’d done, what he was really like then it would be done. He begs Terry to understand. Jase is called back, and Terry makes a call to someone telling them he’ll be there in 10 minutes to pick him up.
Steven tells Pat he hasn’t any money. Pat is going to call Simon, but Steven stops her saying he’s changed his number. Steven tells her that his new girlfriend wanted him gone so it could be just the two of them. Pat doesn’t believe him at first. Steven says they loaded him up with cash and sent him away. He says his dad doesn’t want him, Ian doesn’t want him, and all he wants is a place to belong. Pat tells him he’s staying and he is family.
Jase knocks on the door of Honey’s hospital room. He comes in and tells Billy they sent him up there. He sees Honey holding a healthy baby.
There is a knock on the door and Dawn tells Jay she’ll get it. Terry pushes his way in and asks Jay if he’s been crying. He tells him no. Dawn wants to know who Jase is. He tells them both he’s just left the hospital where Jase is at. He tells Jay that his dad will be alright and will be home later. Dawn and Jay are both happy. Terry says he’s sent a gift for him. A phone that does all sorts of things and plays videos. He plays a video of Jase attacking a man and Dawn demands he turn it off. Terry asks him what he thinks of his old dad now. Proud of him? He should be. Jay has trouble watching it.
Billy comes in and says so much for Jase being the hard man. He asks Honey how the baby is doing. She tells him he’s sleeping peacefully. Billy coos at the baby. Honey tells him that she’s noticed his eyes are different than Janet’s as his hands too. Billy tells her that he doesn’t have Down Syndrome. She starts to cry and says she feels bad because he doesn’t have it and she’s relieved. She feels like that she is putting Janet second already. Honey is filled with emotions about parenting them both and feeling like she’ll be putting one before the other for various reasons.
Jase comes in and the phone is playing the fight. Terry comes out. He tells him Jay ain’t here.
Phils phone rings in the pub and it’s Billy. He tells him that Jase came to see them as he thought the baby was dead. He tells him that Jase has gone back to his flat.
Terry is telling Jase he needs to come back to them and beg their forgiveness and in time all will be forgiven. Terry tells him that if he doesn’t then, he will be in his face at every turn. He’ll tell everyone woman, job and person about what he served time for. All he has to do is come back and get in line, and all will be ok. Terry walks out and tells Bird that Jase is broken and on the ropes. Jase opens his toolbox, grabs a tool and heads downstairs. Jase swings at Terry and Phil stops him. He tells him it’s not enough that he’s gotten his pub smashed up now he’s bringing further friction to the square? Jase tells him to stay out of it. Phil tells them the old bill are about because of the death of the baby. Terry and Bird are alarmed. Phil tells them that everyone is broken up about the death and they have been placed at the scene. The old bill is about now asking questions. Just then a police car rolls past. Terry looks at Bird and tells him not to run, but Bird does. He runs right into the cop’s arms. Jase tells Terry to go. Terry tells Jase he should go first. Terry tells him he’s lost him, his golden boy. The cops come and arrest Terry. Phil walks behind him and tells him five minutes.
Jase goes to Dawns and bangs on the door. She lets him in. Jase comes in and tells him that he was sorry for what he said on the phone. He’ll never leave him will he? Jay asks him how he can tell him what to do when he goes around beating people up. Jase realizes he’s seen the video. He begs his son’s forgiveness and wants to be his dad. He tells him he’s changed. Jay agrees to come home with him. Dawn tells Jase to leave.
Pat is banging on Ian’s door. She wonders what the hell Ian was thinking slinging a kid out on the street. She tells him she’s seen the bruises on his arms and can’t believe he’d let him kip on the street. Jane tells her that he doesn’t care. Pat says that she knows Jane has been through hell but he’s just a kid and has no one and she has her family to help. Peter is sorely confused about what is going on. Jane finally tells Peter that is was not a burst appendix but rather a gunshot wound that Steven pulled the trigger on.
Billy is asleep and Honey wakes him to tell him she’s thought of a name. William after his daddy.
Jase covers Jay up and sits looking at him sleep. There is a knock on the door. It’s Phil, and he tells him Jay’s asleep. Jase tells him to thank you for helping him out. Phil tells him he brought his crap to his doorstep and he should be ripping his head off. But he doesn’t operate that way. Phil e wants him to know something. He owns Jase now.
