Denise tells Kevin she can’t believe they have to be in court soon. He says that Dean will be back. She asks him if he’s trying to convince her or himself? Denise reminds him that Dean took his passport. She says that she is not having him make things worse for Chelsea. If he isn’t back, they’ve lost any chance for the judge to be lenient. Carly wakes in the car lot office. She calls Dean. Sean has Dean’s phone in his hand and says he won’t be needing that anymore now, will he? Carly leaves him a message to call her. She calls out to Sean and asks him what he’s done to Dean. He tells her that he wants to see him in court and get what’s coming to him.
Jane comes into the kitchen. Steven has gotten breakfast made. She tells him that she’s got to get the kids to school and she’s just a bit tired. He starts to apologize for the kiss when the twins come into the kitchen. She hurries them out the door, and Steven offers to take them. She stops him and says she has to go to the cash and carry. She asks Steven to cover for her in the cafe. Steven tells her that he’s only trying to help. She says that she knows he is. He says goodbye and leaves. The twins sigh as does Jane.

Denise is on the phone. She hangs up just as Pat comes down the stairs. Pat wonders if it was Dean. Denise tells her that it was not and she was calling round to see if anyone has seen him. Pat asks about Carly, but Denise hasn’t heard from her either. She says she’ll ask around while she’s out. Denise goes into the kitchen where Chelsea is applying her make up. Denise tells her she looks good. Chelsea tells her she thinks she will wear the black top with her suit. Denise tells her that it will look good. Libby comes in. Denise tells her she needs to get dressed for school. Libby says she’s not going to school, she’s going with them. Denise argues that she is going to school. Chelsea says it won’t hurt her to miss one day. Denise tells them both that it won’t do her any good as they’ll be in and out in ten minutes. Denise ends the argument by demanding Libby go and get dressed. Kevin comes to the door and tells her that he will come back. Denise closes the door and tells him that she’s been in touch with Hughes. Kevin is angry. She tells him she had to tell him that Deano had done a runner.

Jane tells Pat that Steven is leaving. Pat asks her what she means that he is leaving? Jane tells her that they didn’t know he was coming, he just turned up, it wasn’t exactly convenient. Pat yells “convenient? He’s only been here a few days? It’s good for the twins having him there. Is this what Ian would want if he were here?” Jane tells her he’s been there and now it’s time for him to move on as he tried to kiss her the night before. Pat makes excuses for him and says he’s had a hard time of it. He’s trying to make amends. Jane asks her if kissing her is making amends? Pat thinks it must have been a misunderstanding. Jane says he knew what he was doing. Pat says she said it herself he was drunk. Jane says that she doesn’t care if he was drunk or not, it’s time for him to go.

Carly finds Dean at Shirley’s. Carly says he could have called. She’s looked for him everywhere. Shirley says everywhere but here. Heather asks if there is one more for breakfast. Carly says that everyone is worried about him. He should have told them where he was. Shirley says that he’s big enough to sort himself out. Heather says she’ll start making a few rounds of breakfast. Carly says he’s supposed to be in court in a few hours. She wanted to make sure that Sean hadn’t gotten to him. Shirley says he’ll be right behind her. Carly leaves. Shirley tells him to go home, get himself ready. He asks if she is going to be there. She promises she will, and nothing is going to stop her.

Sean has made himself breakfast and asked Charlie for a lift to court. Stacey says she wanted to come with him. Charlie says he doesn’t need to be there watching them suffer. Sean says he wouldn’t miss their faces when they get the news they are being sent down. Charlie begs him to think of their neighbors Denise and Kevin. Stacey reminds Charlie that they didn’t think of Sean when he was sent down.

Libby is brushing Chelsea’s hair and asks her if they will cut her hair? Chelsea says she’s going to prison, not the military. Denise hurries them up. Libby asks if she’s scared. They share a tender moment, and Chelsea asks Libby to look after their mom. Libby tells her she wants her there to pick on her and boss her around. Chelsea is barely holding it together when Denise pops her head in and hurries Libby out. They hug, and Libby leaves. Chelsea is in tears and says it’s not fair as she’s spent ages doing her makeup.

Pat comes into the cafe. Steven says it’s scary how easy it is for him to handle the cafe. Pat says she’s just been to the house. He asks her what their fascination with fried food is. She tells him it’s the colder climate and they need the insulation. Steven inquires as to whether Jane is coming over or does she want him to stay on for a bit. Pat says that whatever happened she ain’t interested. She tells him that he can come to hers and they will manage somehow. He tells her that he doesn’t understand what she’s talking about. She tells him that he can stay with her. Steven smiles and says he’d rather stay with the twins. Pat tells him that he doesn’t have a choice. Jane wants him out.

Kevin is sitting on the sofa. He hears the door open and goes into the hall to see Dean come in with Carly. Kevin thanks God for him coming back. Kevin asks him what the hell he’s playing at. Dean says that he’s back, isn’t he? Chelsea comes out and says “well you decided to turn up then, didn’t you? You know what you’re pathetic!” Carly tells her to leave it. Chelsea says “the squealing pig wants to have a row now, does she? You send him to prison, and then you stick up for him. What a sadistic b*tch you are!” Kevin yells at Chelsea. Denise comes in and screams at Dean asking him if he has any idea the trouble he’s caused, you selfish git? Kevin says they were worried about him. Denise continues to yell at him saying he could have blown everything. Dean pushes back telling her he didn’t. Carly says he was at Shirley’s. Kevin asks him why he went there? Dean says because she didn’t have a go at him. Dean yells at him to back off.

Shirley is dressed in the smartest clothes she has. Heather is folding clothes and tells Shirley how good she looks. Shirley says her boots need tending to. Heather says she’ll get her a cloth and knocks a cup of coffee all over Shirley’s skirt.

Carly says she’ll take Dean’s suit up to him. Kevin is ironing his shirt. She tells him that he was going to come home. Carly starts to ask Kevin something, and he stops her and tells her that all that matters is getting Dean through the day. Pat walks in and says “oh he’s back then?” Kevin tells her that he is and he’s upstairs getting ready. Pat is relieved. Upstairs Dean is in front of the mirror, and he’s covered in punches. Dean says he’s done a really good job on him this time. Nothing the judge can see, all below the head. Carly tells him he needs to go to the police. Dean refuses. He tells her he doesn’t want any to know.

Shirley is cleaning her skirt that is now bleached out in the middle. She looks at the bottle and says it’s for sinks, bathrooms, and toilets! Shirley wonders what she’s going to do as it was the only smart thing she had to wear. Heather offers her interview suit. Shirley says “what turn up looking like I’m wearing a circus tent?” Heather tells her she can wear a belt. She calls out sorry to Shirley.

Preeti comes to visit Chelsea. She’s brought her a gift, a troll she calls Fixer as he fixes things for her when she’s down. Chelsea says she won’t be needing him. Preeti says she’s told him he’s getting a new mum. Denise greets Preeti. Preeti turns and leaves, telling Chelsea not to forget Fixer. Upstairs Kevin is helping Dean get ready. He says his Dad he’s sorry for it all. Kevin tells him that he’s his son. Kevin tells Dean he’s going to be alright. Dean tells him he’s so scared. Carly had started up the stairs but stops as she observes the two of them.

Jane comes downstairs, and Steven is standing there. He says he hears he is moving out. Jane says it’s for the best. He asks for who? She says after last night she feels it’s for the best and doesn’t feel comfortable having him there. She knows the twins love having him there. He agrees he was out of line. She says she needs the spare keys. She asks where he will go. He says that his Nan has said he can stay there. He grabs his pack and says he understands.
Kevin, Denise, Chelsea, and Dean leave for court. Carly says she isn’t going. Denise tells her she will be there. Carly calls out to Dean that she is sorry.

Shirley goes to Stacey’s store. Stacey asks if she’s all dressed up to watch her little boy get put away? Or does she want to be there to make sure he turns up? Shirley tells her that her brother has made sure of that. Shirley asks her if she’s going to sell her something or not.

Kevin, Denise, Dean, and Chelsea are standing outside the courthouse. Dean says he doesn’t want to go in until his mum shows up. Sean walks up and says they all look smart. Sean asks them if they want him to take a picture of the last time they’ll all be together for a while. Kevin tells them it’s time to go inside as Sean smirks at them.

Jane comes out to gather things from the boot of the car. Steven stares at her and pulls keys out.

Dean and Chelsea’s brief says he’d like to go over a few things with them before it begins. Denise turns Chelsea to face her and says “you look that judge straight in the eyes and let him see how sorry you are!” She asks her if she understands. Chelsea says yes. Dean wonders where his mum is. She said she’d be there. The brief says he needs to have a final word before they go in.

Shirley is leaving to go to court when Heather calls to tell her she’s got her skirt ready. Shirley is distracted and walks out in front of a car. She’s banged up. She tells the driver she needs to get to court.

Sean comes in and sits behind Carly. She tells him the next time he wants to rough someone up try it on her. He says it stopped him from running away though didn’t it? She says he wouldn’t have. She tells him he makes her sick. Sean sits back, folds his arms and smirks. Libby tells her mum she couldn’t be here. Denise tells her it’s going to be fine. Kevin says he knew Shirley wouldn’t turn up. Pat tells him it will be fine. He doesn’t need her as he’s got them. Kevin says she should be there as she is his mum. Pat nods that they are coming out for court. Everyone looks anxious and worried. Carly mouths she loves you to Dean. The court is called to order.

Shirley asks what time it is and the man tells her it’s a quarter to twelve. Heather calls. Shirley tells her she’s had an accident. Heather asks if she’s wet herself. Shirley asks who’s car this is? The driver says it’s his. She tells him to get in and drive.

The court asks Chelsea and Dean to identify themselves. The prosecutor reviews the facts of the case.

Steven shows up and picks up the twins at schools telling them they are going on a trip. They ask where and he tells them they’ll see.

Chelsea and Dean’s brief reviews their case stating that they are both fully employed, both pleaded guilty, and have fully cooperated. The report shows that they’ve both shown remorse and would like their sentence to be kept at a minimum or at least a suspended sentence. Shirley arrives at the crowns court. They asked to stand. The judge starts to read his sentence to them. He says that the report does nothing to review the seriousness of their crime. Shirley walks in. The judge citing the seriousness feels that they should serve six months. Denise pleads with the judge not to do this. She has a full on meltdown saying he can’t do this to them. Chelsea calls out to her mum as they are taken away.
