Jane is on the phone “Why are you doing this to us? Sorry. I thought you had. I’m just scared. It’s so good to know you’re ok. Whatever is wrong we can work it out, can’t we? We all miss you so much. Please love wherever you are, please ring me. I love you, Ian.” Jane hangs up and tells Pat she feels like he’s gone and he’s not coming back. The kids come in, and she covers. Pat comforts her. She says that the important thing is to keep going. Peter wonders why Chips is missing now too. Steven says maybe he’s looking for Ian also. Lucy says maybe they both hate them. Steven asks why would Chips hate them. He says they’ll keep looking on their way to school. They head off to school. Jane tells Pat what a godsend it’s been having Steven there. Steven listens in from around the corner and smiles.
Abi lugs Marge’s cage into the kitchen and asks her mum if she thinks Marge is lonely. Tanya says no and asks her to take the cage off the table. The girls bicker. Max comes in, and Laurent tells him he can keep his poxy camera. Tanya marches after Lauren. Abi asks Max if he thinks Marge is lonely. He tells her maybe she is better off without him.
Stacey and Bradley are flirty with one another as Max watches them.
Chelsea asks where Kevin is going to look. He says that he’s going to start at Carly’s. Chelsea wonders why he would look there. Kevin tells her to think like Deano. The first place he’d probably go is Carly’s. She says he wants to protect his precious son. Kevin doesn’t disagree. The doorbell is ringing over and over again. He heads to answer the door cross. It’s Sean, and he wants to know if he’s found him yet. Sean says that it’s ok if he doesn’t find him then the police will. He asks Kevin if he has called the police. Kevin tells him he has. Kevin tells Sean to get lost. Chelsea says that Kevin told him. Kevin tells her to give him till morning, and he’ll find him. If he doesn’t then, he will call the police himself. On a sofa under a blanket Dean stirs.
Jane is distracted in the cafe as Sean places an order. She asks Steven if he can remember what he ordered. He replies a bacon sarnie. He asks Jane if she is alright. She says she is.
Meanwhile, Max yells at Tanya that Lauren was out of order. Tanya reminds him he was out of order yesterday as well. He walks out. Jane tells Tanya that Ian has texted. She’s excited for Jane. She tells Tanya it doesn’t mean he’s coming back. Tanya is happy he’s ok. Sean comes and sits down with Dawn. He wants to know where Carly is. She tells him she doesn’t know and even if she did she wouldn’t tell him.
Pedro says he didn’t hear anyone come in last night. Carly tells him to leave Dean alone. He’s her brother. Carly tells Dean it’s his place. Dean thinks they are together. Carly tells him he better get better at reading the signals for when he’s in prison. Dean gets it finally.
Heather asks Carly a multitude of questions about sorting her laundry. Dawn asks her if it wouldn’t be her first day, would it? Sean comes in and tells Heather there are some kids outside with spray cans. Heather runs out, and Sean locks the door behind her. He picks up Summer and says that Carly would be amazed at how big she’s gotten. Dawn begs him. He asks Summer if her mommy is telling fibs. He convinces her to give him the address. Heather keeps banging no the door, and Patrick looks at her funny. Sean leaves and lets her in. She asks Dawn what he wanted.
Yolande is instructing Patrick on how to use the new cash register. He wonders why they even need it. He flirts with Yolande. Libby is excited he’s back. He ask her how she is and how Chelsea is. He asks her about Darren. She tells him that he met someone while he was gone. Tamwar comes in, and they argue about the library books. When Patrick says, Darren is not the only one who has met someone Libby walks out without her magazine. Yolande asks him if he mentioned Darren. She tells him he’ll have to figure out how to void the sale.
Outside Libby and Tamwar continue to bicker about the books. Darren calls after Libby. She tells him she is busy. Darren asks who Tamwar is. She tells him that Tamwar is her boyfriend. They walk off, and Tamwar tells her that he scratches her back and she scratches his.
Dean has told Carly he just wanted time away. She asks him when court is next for him. She asks him who is looking after his store. He tells her Chelsea is. She wonders if Chelsea still hates her? Carly tells him she is sorry, but she couldn’t let Sean go to jail for something he didn’t do.
Roxy and Ronnie are in the cafe. Roxy is ordering breakfast, and Ronnie reminds her it is nearly lunchtime. Roxy tells Ronnie she’s sticking around to get the scoop. Jane asks her if she’s talking about her. Roxy tells her she wasn’t talking to her. Steven tells Roxy that as a matter of fact Ian’s texted so she can stop spreading her rumors. Roxy says Oh so he’s not dead after all. She looks at Jane and calls her a drama queen. Jane tosses down the utensils and storms out. Steven rushes after her while Roxy and Ronnie have a laugh.
Outside Steven walks up to Jane and she cries that she can’t do it anymore.
Yolande leaves Patrick alone in the store. She’s nervous, but he tells her he has to do it sometime. Max walks by, and Stacey calls out to him that he should be working since weddings cost a bit. He makes a snide remark about how her dad won’t be contributing.
Dean turns away the food Carly’s made for him. She offers to take him to the pub. He wants to stay in. The bell rings, and Pedro answers it. It’s Sean at the door looking for Carly. Dean tells her not to tell him he’s there. Carly tells him to stay there. She answers the door asking how he found her. He tells her Dawn told him. She says she’d never have told him. He tells her that he’s asked Dawn daily since he got back. He asks her to come in. She lets him in. He asks her where she’s working. Carly tells him she’s working in a bar. He picks up the sleeping bag and asks if she’s had a guest. She tells him they get all kinds of people in and out. He tells her this place isn’t good enough for her. She says she’s heard that one before. He tells her that he’s here now. She says it took him long enough. He asks if there is a loo in the house and she says there is. Sean is up and looking around. Carly follows him and stops him from going to the kitchen.
Steven brings Jane a tea. He says he doesn’t understand as Ian’s been in touch and it seemed like she was dealing with it. She says that Ian has left her and his kids. Steven says that he understands. Ian left him too after he promised to raise him as his own. But when it came down to it, he didn’t want me. Jane asks Steven if he left. Steven says that he did leave. He had to. He says he doesn’t care as he had a better life in New Zealand. He enjoyed it just him and his dad. Steven wonders if Ian only cares about his real children and their birth mothers. Maybe he doesn’t care for him or Jane. Jane says that Ian is not like that. He loves all of his children. Jane says she thinks the problem is that Ian doesn’t know how much they love him. She says she didn’t know how much she did. Steven says they’ll get through it, carry on as usual. Jane says “normal?” She tells Steven just to go.
Carly tells Sean that she has to head to work soon. He flirts with her and tells her he thinks she should go to a convent. She asks why? He says he’s been living like a monk since he’s been back. She surmises that is why he’s there then. Pedro walks by and says “well this one is not your brother!” Sean asks Carly if it’s Deano who’s been staying over. She says they both know why he’s there. What does he want with Dean anyway? He tells Carly that Dean’s done a runner and he has court tomorrow.
Darren is buying a magazine when Patrick asks him if he thinks it’s ok to break a young girls heart? Darren is confused. Patrick mentions Clara and Darren runs off. Heather comes in, and Patrick is having issues with the register. She shows him how to void the sale. Patrick tells her that he has cheese to put out. Heather says “cheese?”
Sean asks Carly if she thinks it’s right for Dean to leave Chelsea to take the rap. Carly says he’s probably gone off with some mates. Sean says he knows where he’d spend his last days as a free man. He asks if she missed him. She tells him no. He asks if she is being honest. She says no. He asks if she knows where Deano is. She says no. He gets up and heads to the kitchen. She gets up and kisses him. She tells him she’ll call him. He leaves. She opens the kitchen doors and calls out for Dean. She asks why he didn’t tell her that he has court tomorrow. He says he couldn’t. She says this isn’t just going to go away. He says that Sean went away. She says it’s because she made him. He tells her he heard. He is angry because she turned him in to save Sean. She tells him she had to. He tells her he can’t go back. She begs him to go back. He asks her to come with him. She says no. She begs him again to go back and do the right thing.
Tamwar and Libby are studying and bickering when the doorbell rings. It’s Darren. He shows her a photo of a dog. She wonders why. He tells her it’s Clara. Libby realizes that Clara is a dog. She smiles.
Heather is holding the box of cheese and says she can’t. Patrick asks her what she can’t do? Open it? She tells him she can’t do the cheese. He asks her what good is she to them then? She says she’s gotten locked out, didn’t get the service washes done and now the cheese. Patrick makes a deal that she’ll run the till and he will do the cheese.
Stacey comes in the pub and asks Max if he’s drinking at lunchtime. She asks him what his problem is? He says it’s her, she’s there. She says well get used to it so is global warming. Bradley comes in and tells him that Stacey is cooking for him. Max says it’s the way to a man’s heart.
Darren and Libby chat. He asks her if it is serious with Tam? She says let’s go asks him. They go to the kitchen and Tam’s taken all the books and left.
Max comes into the kitchen to pour some wine. Tanya is baking a cake. She says the salon is quiet and she wanted to cheer everyone up. He says cheer Lauren up she means. She tells him that if he tells her not to do something she’ll only go and do it. He says he wonders where she got that from. He asks her if she ever thinks she would be better off without him? She doesn’t answer. He says he’s sorry.
Chelsea is in the pub getting drunk. Denise comes in and tells her this isn’t doing any good and to come home. Chelsea yells that it’s fine because the service there sucks anyway. Roxy tells her “Bye! See you soon! Oh, wait I forgot you’ll be in jail!” Steven glares at Roxy and tells her to give him another as quick as she can.
Tanya says that the baby is going to look just like him. He says it better. Lauren comes in and asks what they are doing. Tanya reminds her that they live there and all. Max tells her that he has something for her. He apologizes to her. Tanya asks her if she has something to say? She says she’s sorry too. Tanya hands her the camera.
Chelsea tells Denise she didn’t think she’d have to do this all on her own. Denise tells her that it isn’t how it’s meant to be. Kevin comes in and says he hasn’t found him. Denise orders him to get on the phone to the police. He’s dialed it, and the door opens. It’s Carly. Kevin hangs up with the police.
Steven comes in as Jane is angrily doing dishes. He asks her if the kids aren’t back? She says that Pat’s picking up Bobby and the kids are out looking for Chips. She asks him where he’s been. He tells her that he’s been out thinking. He tells Jane that it’s not because of her. She’s not the reason he left. He tells her it’s because of him.
Carly says she couldn’t let him face the music on his own. Chelsea tells her that Dean is not there. Carly says that he promised her he’d come home. Denise tells Kevin to try calling him. The phone rings. Sean declines the call.
Steven tells Jane he lied. She asks about what? He says about his life back home. It wasn’t great. His dad just wanted to get rid of him. Jane says she is sure that isn’t true. She tells him that Ian is not like that. He loved him. She asks if he ever treated him like anything other than his own. He looks at her with sad eyes and says “Jane.” She asks him what is it? She grabs his face, and Steven leans in and kisses her. She looks at him shocked and says “How could you?” and runs out.
