January 13, 2019 Episode 2 (UK Original Air Date Oct 4, 2007)

Kevin calls up to Dean that it is time to get up. He walks into the kitchen with the mail. Kevin hands Chelsea a letter from her brief. She hurriedly opens it, and it’s just directions to court. Everyone tries to remain cheerful and confident that everything will be alright. Chelsea says that she can handle it. Libby heads off for school and Chelsea goes with her. Kevin says he’s going to make Dean a nice tea; he deserves it. Denise says don’t they all. Kevin says it’s only a few more days until it’s done.

Pat comes into Jane’s and frightens her. They talk about Ian and Jane wonders if he has done something stupid. (Steven is listening from the other room) Jane is pouring juice and spills it. She admits to Pat she’s so scared. Pat turns around and nearly bumps into Steven. Steven tells Jane it’s going to be alright. Jane bites his head off and asks him if he has a crystal ball because no one else seems to have a clue.

Kevin slams down the stairs. He says that Dean’s bed hasn’t been slept in and his bag is gone. She asks about his mobile and Kevin tells her it’s switched off. He says he played him for a right mug. He tells Denise not to say anything, and he sets off to find Dean.

Lauren is videoing her dad and mom discussing Stacey and her wedding dress style. Max thinks he deserves someone with a more sophisticated style. Abi comes up behind Lauren and asks her what she’s doing. Lauren hurries her off and says they are coming. They run into the kitchen. Abi asks her to film Marge to put on her webpage. Abi says she’ll tell on her about the camera. Lauren yells at her not to say a word or Marge gets it.

Sean is curious where Dean is. Stacey says maybe he’s done them all a favor and chucked himself into the Thames. Seans says he hopes not as he’s looking forward to watching him squirm tomorrow. Stacey’s mobile is ringing, and it’s Tanya. Stacey tells Sean never get married it’s too much hassle. He tells her he won’t. He walks off. Max walks up, and he tells Stacey he doesn’t know what she was playing at last night. She tells him she was giving him a taste of what it was going to be like on the big day. Her the bride; him the best man. She tells him not to look at her as he was the one sick enough to say yes to Bradley. He’s only got himself to blame.

Heather comes in and asks Shirley what she thinks of her outfit. She tells her to straighten up as she’s got an interview with Dot. She tells Heather they need these jobs. She tells her she looks lovely. The door buzzes, and they fear it’s Norman. It’s Kevin, and he demands to know where Dean is. She is confused. He tells her he’s disappeared.

Dot comes into the Minut Mart and asks if Patrick is no better? Yolande is frustrated because she’s working her fingers to the bone and she found him dancing with Roxy yesterday in the Vic. She can’t help wondering if there is any future left for them. Meanwhile, Patrick and Roxy head off in the tube. Darren walks out of the station.

Kevin says they have to find him. They head out to find him.

Chelsea comes in the kitchen and wonders if Deano is up yet. She wants to drag him round to get him something decent to wear. Denise covers and says that Kevin has already taken him, sort of a father-son treat. She tells Chelsea they should do the same and she’ll take her to get her some new shoes on the high street.

In the cafe, Steve is on a mobile and Heather interrupts him. She tells him that she thought they might need some help what with Ian gone. Steven is rude and tells her not to bother coming back as she wouldn’t fit in there. DS Grimward comes in and asks Steven for a chat. Steven looks nervous.

Kevin buys Dawn a drink to get Carly’s address. He begs her, and she tells him that Carly hasn’t called her. She picks up her mobile as soon as he leaves.

DS Grimward asks him if he’s kept in touch with his Dad. He says that he is hopeful when he gets back they could put things behind them. Grimward says that it appears Lucy has had some trouble with him as well. He inquires how he thinks Jane is coping. Steve appears to be nervous. He says he doesn’t know as he’s only just got back. He wonders how much longer this would take.

Darren is in the Cafe and Dawn finds him there. His mobile dings and he says he needs to take care of business.

Heather is interviewing with Yolande and sweating up a storm. Yolande asks her about her last job. Heather doesn’t answer beyond saying they had differences of opinion. Yolande finishes the interview.

Shirley and Kevin have searched for Dean. She wonders if he has his passport. Kevin doesn’t think he could be that stupid but discovers the passport missing. Shirley says they don’t know how far he’s gone now.

DS Grimward finishes up his interview with Steven. He tells him if he has any other questions he’ll be in tough. He tells him if he thinks of anything else to let him know. Libby is at the counter paying for a danish when she overhears Darren. She sees him but he doesn’t see her, and she rushes out.

Heather is interviewing with Dot. Dot asks her if she’s up to the job and its physical demands. Heather tells her that she must have the fat gene and Dot does not with how fit she is. Dot tells her she eats three meals a day and no snaking. She asks Heather is she knows about the washing. Heather tells her that she showers and keeps herself clean. Dot tells her she meant the clothes. Heather tells her that her mum did that. Dot concludes the interview. She walks out to have a smoke and sees Roxy and Patrick in a black cab laughing and having a good time. You can almost hear Dot’s gears turning as she looks worried. She runs off to Yolande.

Denise and Chelsea come home to find Libby crying outside. Libby tells her it’s pathetic and nothing like what she’s going through. Chelsea tells her that she won’t have her shoulder to cry on for long so spill it. Libby tells her that Darren is back. Chelsea says that he better have had a good excuse for letting her down. Libby asks her what she would do. She tells her that she’d give him one chance to explain himself. Libby hugs her and tells her she’s going to miss her.

Inside the house, Denise is telling them he could be in Timbuktu for as much as they know. She tells Kevin like father like son. Kevin tells him that is below the belt. Denise tells him so is making her lie to her daughter. They are still discussing it when Chelsea walks in and overhears them. She burst in and says “he’s gone isn’t he?”

Pat calls out for Jane. She asks if Steven is still in the cafe? Jane says yes probably avoiding her. She says she shouldn’t have gone for him like that. She tells Pat he’s a bit odd at times. Pat tells her she thinks he had a bit of a hard time in New Zealand so don’t be too rough on the kid. Just then Jane’s cell beeps. It’s Ian. It’s a text that says “Sorry I think I need more time to think. I love you. Ian” Jane is so relieved. Steven is sitting in the square tapping a phone against his face.

Dot see’s Roxy and Patrick going into Patrick’s house. She runs to tell Yolande. Yolande tells her to stay right there.

Chelsea tells them she’s not standing up on that dock on her own. Kevin tells her she won’t have to. He’s going to find him. Shirley lets it slip that Dean has his passport. Kevin tells Shirley that she should leave it to them and go. Chelsea says she should have known he would run out just like all the other useless men in her life. Chelsea says she’s going to call the police. Kevin begs her not to do it. She tells Kevin she doesn’t care if he rots. Chelsea storms off. Denise tells him to let her go she isn’t going to call the police.

Yolande is listening outside the door as Patrick and Roxy sound very flirty with one another. She barges in yelling that they don’t have any shame. What she finds is a beautiful table set up and Patrick and Roxy. She tells them they need to tell her what is going on. Roxy tells her it was meant to be a surprise. Patrick says that he wanted to do something special for her to say thank you for all that she’s done for him. He holds out earrings, and Yolande is humbled. Roxy says she better go. She tells Yolande they will look lovely on her. Yolande looks at Patrick.

Stacey is whinging on about the wedding preparations with Tanya. Bradley tells her she isn’t doing it for fun. He tells her she is trying to help. Stacey says it’s too much.

Darren is talking to his sister when Libby walks up. She overhears him asking about Clara and how he can’t get her brown eyes out of his mind.

Bradley is getting measured by Tanya. Stacey looks over at Max and taunts him about his measurements. She says he’s not as fit as Bradley. Tanya asks her to measure Max. She measures him, and Tanya comes over and asks what she’ s doing. Stacey looks guilty. Tanya tells her she has the tape upside down. Stacey asks if he’s looking forward to the big day? Wasn’t that long ago she wasn’t good enough for his son. Funny innit? Tanya says it’s not like that now.

Yolande and Patrick are enjoying the reconnection. She begs him to consider coming back to work. He’s unsure.

Jane is reviewing the text with DS Grimward. He tells her he won’t just close the investigation just yet. Jane thinks he can since Ian has texted. Steven comes in, and she tells him the good news. DS Grimward says they’ll look into it still. Jane asks if they can’t trace his text. He says they can but don’t want to do that just yet.

Heather comes up to Dot and asks if she’s made her decision yet about the job. Heather tells her she wouldn’t asks if she was not desperate. Heather tells her she forgot to mention all her accolades from her previous. She says she’ll work at half pay to prove herself. She begs Dot. She tells her she’s a fine Christian woman and be her good Samaritan. Dot tells her she’ll have a word with Mrs. Trueman and maybe they can give her a weeks trial. Heather is overjoyed.

Steven is walking down the stairs with a mobile. Jane bumps into him and asks him to have a fresh start. He walks out and accidentally lets the dog out.

Yolande is in the shop, and Patrick comes in and says he’s back for good.

Tanya is carrying the sewing box off. Bradley offers to help as she shouldn’t be carrying it in her condition. They walk out of the room. Max walks over to Stacey. Stacey has a flirty go at him to get under his skin when they hear a phone ringing. Max sees Lauren with the camera, and he knocks it out of her hand. He is right angry at her and tells her to get out of his sight.

Stacey and Bradley head into the Vic. Chelsea is sitting there when Shirley walks up. She asks Chelsa if she’s phoned the police. Denise and Kevin come, and Denise tells her he wanted to make sure she is ok. Chelsea says he just wanted to make sure she hadn’t grassed on his son. Sean walks in and taunts her with “Once again Bonnie and no Clyde.” Chelsea gets in his face and tells him that he’s too late as Dean’s cheated him out of the last laugh because he’s gone.”

Steven is in the park and burns the mobile he’s been carrying around.
