It’s pouring rain out, and Ian and Jane are in bed. She is sleeping, and he looks at her and gets up. She wakes and looks at the clock. Ian is looking at the phone, and his number says “Dead Man.” She comes into the kitchen and wonders what he’s doing up. He says he just fancied a drink. He snaps at her, and she wonders if he’s ok. She says this is what he wants. He says “He?” Jane says “he, she, whoever it wants him to come apart like this,” She tells him that not to worry as tonight all his troubles will be far away when they are sitting on the beach.
Jase is coming out of the Minut Mart, and Roxy walks up. She invites him for a cuppa, but he turns it down as he must walk Jay to the gate at school. She tells him she’s walking Ben today since everyone else is busy. She asks him if he wants to come after. He tells her another time.
Jane is singing “Killer Queen” by Queen that’s playing on the radio as she cooks. She has a large knife in her hand. Bobby’s gotten into the ketchup and Ian assumes its blood. He asks her what she’s done to him. She tells Ian he’s licked the side of the bottle and gotten it all over him. Ian asks her to put the knife down and back away as he cleans up Bobby. Jane calls Ian out for calling Bobby “my son.” Ian says he didn’t mean anything by it. She says he can make his son lunch and she’ll go to the cafe and make him more money.
Denise brings Kevin lunch but finds the car lot office locked.
Ian digs through Jane’s bag. Peter wonders what he’s doing. He says he lost something and wonders if Cindy, um Jane, found it. He tells Peter that he’s had a lot of sleepless nights and has had his mum on his mind. Peter tells him not to worry about it. Ian asks Peter if Jane ever talks about Cindy. He says no, but there was the time right before the wedding where she told them that she could never replace their mom but loved them just the same as if they were hers. Ian tells him to get his bag, and he’ll give him a ride to school as he can’t be late.
Roxy waits for Jay and Jase to walk Ben to school. They all walk together. Billy walks by and glares at Jase.
Denise yells up for Chelsea to get up. Chelsea wonders if she’s done anything wrong. Denise tells her that if she left her on her own, she’d sleep till noon. She tells Chelsea that she wants her to take Dean and Libby to the movies so she can cook a meal for Kevin.
Ian finds the back door unlocked and open. He yells out “hello? Jane? I’ve called the police!”
Billy sees Roxy and Jase walking up. Billy asks Lou to watch the stall while he goes for coffee. Roxy asks if he’s got a beef with Billy.
Ian comes rushing into the cafe asking where Jane is. Pat tells him the hairdressers. Pat asks him what is wrong? Ian says nothing. She tells him to sit down. He doesn’t want to, but she forces him to.
Billy heads out and runs into Jase. Jase says it’s not nice, is it? Being watched? Jase calls him out on telling everyone that he’s been in the nick. He tells him “you’re a father. There are some things you don’t want to tell your little ‘un until the time is right. I reckon you’ve spread the news about me.” Billy tells him he might have told a few people. Jase tells him to keep his nose out of his business and gossiping is women work and to keep out of it.
Inside the cafe, Ian is trying to tell Pat that Jane is behind the whole Cindy thing. He tells her that he’s sure Jane is trying to drive him mad. He blames all the deliveries and text on Jane. Pat agrees that it sounds stupid. He thinks that she’s obsessed with Cindy. Pat wonders why Jane would be jealous of a Cindy when she’s dead. He says because Jane knew how much he loved her before it all went wrong. Pat tells him that they really need the holiday. He says he’s not going on the holiday with her. Pat reassures him that Jane loves him and the kids and would never hurt them. She tells him that he needs this holiday. She says his mum would tell him the same. She asks him if he’s missing her. He says that he does and wishes he could just go sit with her. Pat tells him to go do just that, go on holiday and enjoy his family.
Chelsea walks into Denise making chili for Kevin. She finds a note from Kevin. He’s left the money and tells her that he wouldn’t have the courage to do what he’s done if he saw her. He’s taken Dean away, he doesn’t know where but it’s the only way. Denise falls into Chelsea sobbing.
Jane comes back to the cafe and finds a note from Ian. He says he’s an idiot and can’t wait to go on holiday. Ian is at home and finds a receipt for the coffin inside Jane’s passport. Jane comes home and finds the door chained, and Ian won’t let her in. He tells her to meet him on his Uncle’s bench in ten minutes.
Jay wonders if Ben has ever seen Roxy in the shower. He says no why would he want to. In the Vic, Jay picks up a pair of Roxy’s underwear.
Pat says “I’ll kill them!” Chelsea says they’ve taken their passport. Pat wonders if anyone has phoned them. Denise says to Chelsea it always comes down to the three of them. Denise blames Chelsea for all of this. If she hadn’t lied and cheated then none of this would never have happened. She tosses the chopped meat across the room. Libby says they should go to Aunty Kim’s because whenever anything goes wrong, they always go to her.
Ian tosses accusations at Jane. He hands her the book. She tells him she’s never seen it before. He wonders when this obsession started. With what, Jane asks. He says with Cindy. She tells him he’s starting to sound like a madman. He then shows her the invoice for the coffin and tells her if she was really a mastermind she wouldn’t have left that in her bedside.
Roxy says that they will have to have Jay around again. She asks if his dad cooks. He says yes eggs, beans, eggs. He has Roxy’s underwear on his head, and Ben tells him to stop it’s not funny. He takes them off before she sees him. Jay tells Roxy they could do with a woman around the house. Roxy asks if he misses his mum. He says yes he does. She tells him he and Ben should talk about it as she knows Ben misses his mum too. He slips the underwear in Ben’s pocket.
Ian hands Jane the phone she supposedly used to make all the calls and send messages. Jane tells him it’s pretty convenient that someone would leave all that lying around for him to find. He wants to know if she thinks someone has been sneaking in and out of the house. She tells him that someone has. He tells her that if this was a court that was incontrovertible evidence. She tells him “this isn’t some court you pig! This is me and you I’m your wife. He tells her he’s just supposed to believe her. She lied about her name, about being married to David. Jane tells him that she was falling in love with him at the same time her husband was dying. He tells her she’s been lying to him since she met him. He throws the affair with Grant in her face. She tells him that was a mistake. He says all she does is lie. He wonders if she’ll take him on holiday knock him over the head and come back. She wonders why! He says “I dunno, maybe you had some sort of Cindy fixation?” He tells her maybe she wanted him out of the way so it could be just her and the kids. Jane says I’m your wife! You horrible little toad. She cries that someone set her up and she didn’t do this. Ian sees that he might have gotten some of it wrong. She tells him to shut up she doesn’t want him anywhere near her. He asks her to forget this. She tells him she doesn’t ever want to see his face again. He asks if she’s going to divorce him. She tells him she doesn’t know but what she does know is for him to take the kids to Spain or not but she’s going to be back in that house in an hour, and she doesn’t want him there.
The cab arrives for Denise, Libby, and Chelsea. Denise looks at a photo of her and Kevin and slams it down on the table.
Jase comes into the pub to pick up Jay. Phil offers him a drink. Phil asks him what he was inside for. Jase looks at Billy and says he likes a man who can get straight to the point. Phil tells him he’s been inside himself. Jase asks him if it’s something he’d rather just forget. Phil tells him, yeah, but yours and my kid are friends, so there is that. Jay walks out into the pub and hears this. Jase doesn’t see him right away and says he’s done his time and just wants to keep his head down. If anyone doesn’t like it, they can steer clear. He looks over and sees Jay who looks devastated.
Pat tells Denise she doesn’t have to go, that this is her home. Denise tells her she will be in touch. Kevin pulls up as she gets into the cab. He yells for her.
Ian is on the phone with the hotel. He hands up and sees Lucy’s blog open. He types a message to Cindy. It says “Congratulations you are ruining my life!” xxxxx He starts to cry.
Kevin stands in the way of the cab and tells Denise he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t leave her. She tells the cabbie to knock him down, and she’ll double the fare.
Ian hears a message pop in. It’s from Cindy who tells him to meet her at the pavilion in 20 minutes.
