December 3, 2018 Episode 2 (UK Original Air Date September 13, 2007)

Sean is sitting on a bench in the square. He looks at his watch then glances over his shoulder. He hears a scream. Pat comes running into the sitting room to see Chelsea in tears. Her hair has been cut on one side. Denise comes running in and examines the aftermath. She wonders how and they see Chelsea’s hair laying on the pillow. Outside, Sean looks pleased with himself and tucks his paper under his arm. He smiles and walks out of the square.

Ian is on Lucy’s computer pretending to be her. He’s printing all the blogs. Jane tries to talk him out of it. He is out of ink, so he runs out. Outside he sees that the cart for the fruit and veg is broken. Ian yells at Billy and tells him to fix it. But he’s not paying for it.

Kevin wonders why they think it’s Sean. Pat says “who else could it have been?” Denise tells them all to leave the room. She says they need a bit of space. Chelsea says “I feel raped, mum!” to which Denise replies not to be such a drama queen. A bad haircut doesn’t amount to rape. Chelsea asks her mum why she’s being like that. Denise asks her it is like what? Would she like her to call the police? She can still report it as an assault. Chelsea asks her mum why she isn’t holding her? Denise tells her it’s because she won’t always be there to help her. Denise tells her she needs to get her act together. She tells her that if she falls to her knees now, she will never get up.

Jane comes into the dining room. Lucy comes down the stairs and sniffs. Jane asks her what she’s doing to which Lucy replies “can’t you smell her perfume?”

Shirley walks in and says good morning to Phil. She asks if he’s had anything to eat and pours him some cereal. He doesn’t make a move. She pours vodka on them and asks if he’ll eat them now. He gets up to go shower.

Jane stops Ian and tells him what Lucy said about smelling her mother’s perfume. Lucy says she can’t believe he has been on her laptop pretending to be her! Ian tells her that she is to stay away from the laptop and she knows why. Lucy says her mum will be able to tell it’s him. He won’t fool her. He tells her that this has got to stop. She says to Ian, “You can smell it can’t you?” Ian says no that he can’t smell anything. Lucy gets her backpack, and he asks where she is going. Lucy says school. Ian tells her not without her brother. He yells up for Peter and Lucy bolts for the door without him. The laptop chimes. Ian opens the message which reads “nice try.”

Jase is sewing Jay’s pants. Jay asks him where he learned to sew? Jase doesn’t answer the question. He tells him he’ll sew them proper tonight, but these will do tonight. Jay puts them on and wonders what people will think. Jase tells him he looks fine. Lucy and Lauren are walking to school. Jay comes out, and they pick on him and call him Bobby Orange. He wonders what they are talking about.

Chelsea and Denise tuck her hair in to make it appear as if she’s wearing a side ponytail. Denise says that will do. Chelsea says it will work until she takes it off. Denise reminds her what she just said about whining. Denise calls out to Deano and says they are all going to work. She tells them both they are having to learn the hard way that actions have consequences. They all walk out together, and Dean stops. Denise asks him if he’s going to let her show him up. She tells him to have some dignity.

Billy is looking at the cart. Honey says she bets Jase could repair it. He’s looking for work she reminds Billy. Just then Denise, Chelsea, and Deano walk by. Denise stops at Dean’s stall and then head off. Dean speaks to Billy, Honey, and Jase but they do not speak to him. Dean tells Stacy he forgot his stock. She asks him if he really thinks anyone on the market is going to speak to him again. He smirks as people talk about him around the market.
Meanwhile, Jase tells Billy he’ll need money to buy supplies. Billy reluctantly gives him twenty quid. Honey tells Billy he gives her hope that there are still good people around. Chelsea and Denise get to the salon, and there is a sign in the window advertising for a new assistant. Denise asks Chelsea if she wants her to come in with her. Chelsea tells her it will be alright. She’s being strong just like she asked her. Denise says she will be out there for a few minutes if she needs her. Denise sees Mrs. Massood and tells her she will be there in a minute. Inside the salon, Tanya politely tries to explain to her why she can’t have her there anymore. Chelsea tells her to stuff her job and takes off her beret and shows them her hair. She walks out, and Denise tries to comfort her. Chelsea tells her this is her holding her head up and tosses the beret to the ground. She walks off telling Denise that’s what she thought she wanted.

In the Minute Mart, Sean speaks with Yolande. She tells him that Patrick told her that he had spoken to him. Sean asks if he told her why he did what he did? She says yes and that they understand. She says he must be feeling very bitter towards Chelsea and Deano. He says a little. She says that Jesus said you must love your enemies. He says there is a bloke who knew what he was talking about. He walks out to face Deano. He asks how he’s doing. Sean turns, and Chelsea runs smack into him. Sean asks if that is how they are wearing their hair in Paris these days. Denise tells him that she will deal with him another time. He looks at Deano and says he will see him soon.

Peggy and Ben come home. Roxy yells for Shirley and tells her that Peggy is back. Roxy tells Peggy that Phil stayed with Shirley last night. Peggy asks how Phil is doing. She wonders if he’s talking about Stella. Shirley tries to warn Peggy that he’s not better. They hear Phil upstairs with Ben. Peggy and Roxy run up and greet Phil. He seems sober, and Peggy wonders about what Shirley has told her downstairs. Roxy says she can’t believe everything Shirley says. Peggy yells for Shirley. Phil has given Ben a model airplane that they can put together. Shirley comes up. Peggy wonders what is going on. Shirley says he’s pulling the wool over her eyes. Peggy tells her she always believes the worst about people.

Ian is printing off the blogs, and he starts to smell something. He gets up and sniffs the air. He opens the door to the hall and on the mirror “Ian I’m back” is written on the mirror.

Kevin is in the cafe talking about how he has not seen hide nor hair of Sean. Just then Sean comes in and stands behind him and says “boo.” Sean asks him what he could possibly want with him. Kevin asks for a quiet word. They sit down after Sean orders a tea and bacon sarnie. Sean asks him what this is all about. Kevin says he must know. Sean says he’s stumped. Sean says he’s just had a conversation with Yolande and she’s a very Christian lady. Something about loving your enemies. Kevin pleads with him to leave Dean alone. Ian comes in and tells Jane she needs to come with him. She tells him that he’s in the middle of a bacon sarnie. He says she must go. They run down the market to the flat, and there is nothing on the mirror anymore. He thinks someone is in the house. He runs up the steps calling out hello.

Phil is telling Ben the most important thing is preparation. Peggy is outside the door watching, and she tells Roxy that she is going to keep a close eye as they’ve been here before.

Jane tells Ian that she can’t stay and must get back to the cafe. A message pops up. It says “Getting in a state? The answer might be in front of your eyes.”

Denise comes to work, and Shabnam is shocked. Mrs. Masood comes in and goes on about how Shabnam is loyal and dependable. Denise asks if there is anything else? Mrs. Masood tells her that as a matter of fact, she needs to take out the recycling. Denise tells her she knows she works behind the counter. Mrs. Masood says as soon as you can! Denise says she must be having a laugh.

Jase repairs the cart entirely. Billy doesn’t pay him. Honey takes twenty quid and pays Jase. Billy is gobsmacked.

Preeti fixes Chelsea’s hair with a short bob haircut.

Jase comes into the phone ringing. Jay asks him not to answer. He says his pants split again. He tells his dad that the phone ringing is not about the trousers. He asks his dad what bobby orange means.

Mrs. Masood comes in and finds Denise reading a magazine. Denise tosses it down and says it’s not hers. She just found it there. She asks Denise where Shabnam is, and Denise tells her she’s grabbing lunch. Mrs. Masood asks her if the boxes are just going to break themselves down? Denise reminds her she works at the counter. Shabnam comes in, and her mother tells her to take over as Denise has to do what she’s asked her and then do the shredding. Denise gives her a look, and she asks Denise if there is a problem.

Chelsea is fussing over her hair, and Pat walks in. Chelsea says she supposes she could get used to it. Pat begs her pardon and asks if she’s even thanked Preeti yet. Preeti says it’ is no bother. Pat tells her that she won’t get far if she doesn’t work on her attitude. Chelsea thanks Preeti. Pat asks Chelsea how much she’s paying her. Preeti says it was a favor. Chelsea thanks her again. Pat says the least she can do is buy her a drink. Pat asks her what she is waiting for.

Denise walks in the Vic and sees Kevin. She asks him what he’s doing there? He says having a drink. What is she doing there? She tells him she’s been sacked. Chelsea, Preeti, and Pat come in. They order drinks, and Denise tells Chelsea that the new cut really suits her. Sean says he likes it. He asks how her stepbrother is. She looks at him and tells him to drop dead. He tells Kevin “I don’t know Kev, you try to do what Jesus asks, and this is what you get.” Kevin looks at him with a knowing look.

Upstairs Phil and Ben are working on the airplane. They decide to quit for the day, and he sends Ben out as he is going to clear it all up. After Ben leaves, Phil takes out a fifth of vodka and takes a big swig.

Jane comes in as Ian is laying out a bunch of photos. Jane asks him what he’s doing. He says that he was going mad or so he thought. He nearly fell for it. He says he’s worked it out. It’s Cindy’s sister Gina. Jane wonders what makes him think that. He says she always had a thing about him. Jane wonders what he’s on about. He shows her and clicks over gina in the last message. Just then another message comes in that says “Special Delivery” Ian hears the bell ring. He goes out and sees a package on the porch. Jane asks if they got a card from her in the mail last Christmas. She remembers they did and finds her address. She asks Ian what he has, and he shows her a bottle of perfume called Cindy. A message rings in, and it reads “Can you smell me now?”
