23 September, 2018 Episode 1 (Original UK Air Date 7 August, 2007)

Patrick is laying on the floor of the Minute Mart with blood around his head. Deano is on the phone calling for help as Chelsea checks to see if he has a pulse. She tells Deano that Patrick is still breathing. Deano whispers to Chelsea “What are we going to do?”  Meanwhile, Denise and Yolande are discussing how upset Yolande is with Patrick. She tells Denise she’s tired of his lies and he’s not going to take advantage of her anymore.

Carly is at Mo’s asking where Sean is.  Mo says he’s working over at the Vic, Carly says she’s just been over there, and he’s not there.  Mo whinges about having to stay there waiting on the plumber. Carly asks her to tell Sean she’s looking for him. Carly walks out and sees Sean walking and calls out to him. He walks over to her as she tells him she’s been looking for him. Carly tells him that he can’t just walk out on her. He smiles. She wonders if there is something else he’s not telling her. He kisses her and apologizes. Sean tells her he’s just been in a bit of a weird mood.

Gus walks into the Minute Mart and sees Patrick laying there. Deano tells him to stay back. Gus thinks he’s fallen. Chelsea yells at him that he has not fallen, he’s been hit. Gus wonders who would have hit him. Deano and Chelsea look at each other rather oddly. Outside in the square, the siren of the ambulance is growing closer. Carly asks Sean if something had happened in the Vic, as Ronnie told her he’d stormed out. Sean tells her no, nothing happened.  Sean tells Carly that if it makes her feel better, he’ll let the dust settle and apologize to Ronnie as well. The ambulance rolls past them, and Carly wonders what it’s all about. Sean makes a joke that the driver probably wants a bacon bap. He encourages her to have a drink with him at a new place that’s opened on the high street. Carly tells him the ambulance is stopping.

As the ambulance arrives, Gus rushes out to greet it. Jay is standing nearby. Charlie asks Gus what happened. Gus tells them it’s Patrick. He tells him that he was just lying there. Over at the Vic, a crowd has gathered outside. Ronnie comes out to get Roxy back inside. Jase tells her he’ll see her later. Ronnie asks Jase what’s happened and he tells her that it looks like Patrick has been mugged.  Ronnie walks towards the Minute Mart. Jase wonders what Jay is doing hanging about. He tells Jay that just because he’s not in school doesn’t mean he can bum about. Jay says “they are saying that someone’s whacked, Patrick. Don’t blame them neither, the grumpy old scrote!” Jase tells Jay to keep his mouth shut.

The paramedic is examining Patrick and calls out that he’s got a fractured skull and maintaining his airway. They ask Chelsea and Deano if they found him. They tell the paramedics yes. They ask Chelsea and Deano if he’s been moved. They tell them no, they didn’t touch him because they didn’t know what to do for the best. Chelsea asks if he’s going to be alright. They ask everyone to wait outside and not to leave because the police are on their way. Carly asks Gus who found Patrick. He tells her that Chelsea and Deano found him. Carly asks if he was attacked. Sean watches on with a worried look. Gus tells her it looks like he was attacked.  Roxy comes back out and declares that it is ok for Ronnie to skiv off. Ronnie tells her that she’s speaking with her customers. Stacey says it’s terrible what’s happened. Sean agrees. Stacey asks Sean if he’s alright now and he tells her yes.  They get Patrick loaded up and Charlie wants to ride to the hospital with him. They refuse. Charlie tells Gus to go find Yolande and tell her what happened. Charlie says to tell her to get to the hospital quickly.

The police arrive as the ambulance pulls off. Sean looks nervous.

Denise and Yolande are discussing Patrick still over drinks. Yolande is angry with him for lying and having no respect for her. Yolande turns the conversation Denise and Kevin building a future together. Looking forward together. She asks Denise what Patrick sees when he looks forward. She wonders if he can see any kind of future together with her. They had plans, but he didn’t want to share his winnings with her. How can he be looking towards a future with her when he can’t see it.

Outside of the Minute Mart, the police tell everyone that is on the street or inside the shop to stay exactly where they are so they can speak with them. Sean walks off. Carly follows after him and wonders if he heard what the copper said. He says he didn’t see anything. Carly says he doesn’t know that. He bites back at her and tells her she doesn’t know what he saw. She tells him to tell the cops that then. Carly says fine. They can go back to her’s, and she can get her stuff, and they can go. Sean walks off.

The police are questioning Gus. They tell him they understand he found Patrick. He says no, that wasn’t him it was Chelsea and Deano. He looks for them, but they aren’t around.  Chelsea and Deano are in the Vic with a drink. Deano thinks it’s a bad idea that Chelsea is considering telling the cops it was Sean. She tells him that Sean is a nutter and deserves to be locked up and he will be before long. Dean wonders what he will do to them when he finds out it was them who went to the police. Chelsea says he won’t have the chance because he’ll be locked up. Deano does not want to do it. Chelsea tells him not to bottle this. Dean tells her to let the police do their own dirty work. Chelsea is angry.

At Carly’s, she notices that Sean is all wound up again. He tells her he thought they were going for a drink. She asks him if he knows something about what happened to Patrick. She begs Sean to talk to her. He tells her that he found Patrick.

Tanya walks back to the table. She apologizes to Max. He wonders if there is something more wrong than she’s letting on. He asks her what Raine said to her. The waiter brings their food and Tanya doesn’t answer Max. The waiter brings Yolande and Denise more drinks. Yolande flirts with the waiter.

Sean tells Carly it must have been just after it happened because there was no one else in the shop. Just Patrick was lying on the floor, and he was breathing. Carly wonders why he didn’t call for help. Sean tells her that he and Patrick had just had this big run in and all the sudden he goes back in and there he is lying at his feet. He tells her to use her head. He had motive and opportunity. He tells her “look I saw him. Whoever did this wasn’t messing about. That was GBH at least!”

Charlie rushes into the hospital and asks about Patrick. He wants to know what’s going on. The nurse tells him that he’s still be assessed and she’ll have the doctor to talk to him when they can.

In the Vic Roxy and Ronnie are discussing how bad it was to launch a new menu. Ronnie figures they can stick everything in the freezer. Roxy tells her they can do better than that.

Inside the cafe, the police are talking to potential witnesses. The female cop walks out, and Ian walks up to ask her what’s going on. She asks him if he’s been on Bridge Street or in the Minute Mart in the last hour. He tells her he’s just gotten back from the cash and carry. She tells Ian to move on then. He asks again what has happened. She tells him that the shopkeeper, Mr. Trueman has been attacked. Gus asks Ian if he’s seen, Yolande. Ian spies Craig standing on the market and walks up to him ignoring Gus. He asks Craig why he’s not at his Nan’s. Craig tells Ian his mum went instead. Ian orders him to get to the Chippy and get cracking at making fish and chips. Ian tells Craig with all the punters rubbernecking they are bound to get hungry.

Carly tells Sean he’s not thinking it through. He tells her he is. She tells him that there was bound to be someone who saw him. He tells her all those traders were probably busy. He’s thought it through, and he’s got it covered. She wonders what will happen if anyone remembers they saw him. He says he left out the back, that no one saw him. Carly is not convinced. She wonders about CCTV and if they watch it and see him. She figures they’ll see it and know he didn’t have anything to do with it. She tells him it’s even more reason to go and talk to the police to clear himself. He gets up to leave, and she stops him.

The police are looking for the tape in the minute mart, but it’s gone. Just then Chelsea and Dean come in. The cops tell them they’ve been looking all over for them. They ask if they found Mr. Trueman, first on the scene yeah? Chelsea says yes, and we saw who did it. Dean looks down and uncomfortable. The cop looks at Chelsea in disbelief.

Carly says she’ll go back to the shop and tell them that Sean has some information. She says that she’ll tell them he wants to talk to them and she’ll bring them around. Sean is staring out the window. Carly tells him to tell them the truth before they hear otherwise.

Chelsea and Deano are talking to the cop. Chelsea says that Patrick was stocking shelves or something and had his back turned towards the guy. Then he just hit him and smashed him to the ground. The cop asks if they recognized who it was. Dean says “yeah the guys a total head case.” Chelsea says “his name is Slater, Sean Slater.”

Yolande is still drinking. She tells Denise she can go if she’s going to continue to look at her that way. Denise tells her she wouldn’t leave a friend in that situation. Yolande asks if she thinks the sun has set for her. Denise asks her “what?” Yolande says “Just like Sean Slater” Denise asks her when she’s ever taken any notice to what Sean Slater has to say. Yolande gets up and walks out.

Over at Tanya and Max’s table, the conversation is uncomfortable. Max tells Tanya to open her present and that he spent a lot of money on it. She tells him that is all that matters to him. She confesses that she did give Rainie money and she took it after Tanya told her if she did to never come back. She asks Max to take her home.

Charlie is sitting in the waiting room when the doctor comes out. Charlie asks about Patrick. The doctor asks about Yolande. Charlie says he’s been trying, but her phone must be off. He asks again about Patrick. The doctor tells him that they are preparing him for theater. The CT scan shows a blood clot between the brain and the skull. He really needs Mrs. Trueman to get there.

Yolande is staring at herself in the mirror. Denise gives her a pep talk and reminds her that she could probably have the waiter at the snap of her fingers. But she tells Yolande to put her hand on her heart and reminds her that the sun hasn’t set on her and Patrick either.

Ian is wafting the smell of chips out of the shop. Ian says there are some sick individuals out there. He orders Craig to get back around the counter and start frying up chips. He declares that they are going to make some serious money today (Mr. Sensitive he is!)

Roxy and Ronnie are serving a full pub. Ronnie isn’t sure about it. Half priced drink, yeah, but half priced grub she’s just not sure about. Roxy tells her to look around. She says to call it doing a bit for the community. Ronnie still isn’t so sure.

The cops are discussing Sean. They arrive at the Slaters. Mo tells him that he isn’t there. Stacey says he had nothing to do with it. The cop says then he has nothing to worry about then. Carly tells Sean the longer he leaves it, the worse it will be. She tells him that she believes him and once he tells them what happened so will they.

Roxy is telling Gus if he wants to play a food order he better hurry. He tells her he is on the phone with Charlie. They discuss ideas of where to find her. Charlie tells him that Patrick has to have surgery.

Max and Tanya walk in the house and Abi asks if they’ve heard. Max rushes her off. Tanya tells him she’s sorry for giving Rainie money. Max tells Tanya she will be back when the money is gone. Tanya tells him that she’s out of her life once and for all. Max walks into the kitchen and asks Abi what she was on about. She tells him about Patrick’s attack.

Yolande and Denise are still discussing how to get Patrick to grovel a bit. Gus is on the street and asks Carly if she’s seen, Yolande. Max runs out and tells Gus he knows where Yolande is. They arrive at the restaurant, but they are gone. Just then Yolande and Denise come round the corner, and they see Max and Gus. Yolande stops in her tracks.

On the square, Carly walks up to the cops and tells them that Sean wants to see them.

Yolande and Denise arrive at the hospital. Charlie catches her up on what’s happening.

Carly takes the cops to her house, and they don’t believe he is there. She tells them he is inside. She walks in, and he’s gone.
