Tanya is sitting at the kitchen table when Max walks in. “A bit early for you isn’t it?” he says to her. She tells him three guesses. He counts out to three and says it’s her sister. He tells her she isn’t worth it. Tanya replies “she’s my sister. I need to take $500 quid out of the account.” Max is frustrated and grumbles. Tanya tells him she will pay it back out of her clothes fund over the next three months. Max tells her she should not do it. It’s throwing good money at bad. Tanya tells him she can’t just let her sit inside for three months. They argue about why she shouldn’t give it to her sister. Tanya thinks Max is being mean but he says he’s just looking out for her. Tanya tells him to spare her.
Ian’s contractors are cleaning up his mess. Inside he throws Jane under the bus for the damage. He answers the phone, and it’s Environmental. He tells them he’s on his way over. He hides the Queen Vic Bust on the stairs.
Tanya is rustling through a drawer looking for something when she pulls out a credit card. Jane calls to her through the door. She tells Tanya she found Lucy’s diary and against her better judgment read it. Tanya asks her what it said. Jane tells her it was in code, but it said that “heart faced smiled at me today. I want to exclamation mark him!” Tanya wonders what that means. Jane was hoping Tanya could tell her. She also talks about Ian poorly in the diary. They discuss it, and Tanya tells her she’s sure it is nothing to worry about. Jane doesn’t want Lucy just tossing it away. Tanya tells her it probably is fine and if she’d had a diary when she was younger it would have said much worse. Tanya convinces her to sit down with Lucy and chat but excuses herself as she has to go.
Ian is smoothing over the environmental inspection and is cleared to open. He spies Ronnie and Roxy watching from the Queen Vic. He holds up the open sign towards them. They say he won’t be as smug when they steal back the Queen Vic. Ronnie tells her no they are not breaking in. Roxy says they are and will get it back. Ronnie tells her she has a better idea.
Jane comes into the kitchen to speak with Lucy. Lucy ignores her. She looks at Jane and says “what now?” Jane tells her what with all the disruptions she just wanted to see how she was. Lucy smugly tells her she’s okay. She goes to put her earphones back in, and Jane stops her. Lucy is rude. Jane tries to have a conversation about growing up, and Lucy has a go at her. She accuses her of reading her diary, then Ian. Lucy packs her bag up and storms out amidst Janes pleas.
Tanya takes out the money against the credit card.
Ronnie comes into the cafe. Ian wonders if she’s come to make him an offer for the Queen Vic. Ronnie tells him that she and Roxy have had a chin wag and they’ve decided to let him keep it. Ian is puzzled. Ronnie tells him it’s a bit old-fashioned and takes up too much room, so it’s all his. Ian says that Peggy won’t be too happy about it. Ronnie reminds him it wasn’t her that took it. Ronnie walks out. Lucy walks up and tosses her diary at Ian. She screams at him and walks away. Jane tries to explain to him what’s happened and Ian asks her to start from the beginning. She tells him Lucy has a boyfriend and Ian goes mad. He opens the diary, and Jane begs him not to. He tells Jane it’s his daughter, not hers. Lucy is on the phone telling the other end to meet her in the park. Back at the cafe, Ian is asking Jane what all the code means. He flips the page to find “I hate Dad” all over it. Roxy leans out the window to tell Ian they’ve just had a call from Peggy and she said Phil will work it out when they get back. Ian yells that he doesn’t care about the bust and to get stuffed. He heads into the cafe. Roxy is frustrated it didn’t get under his skin.
Tanya is at the courts. She calls Max and inquires as to where he is. He’s in his car waiting on a client he tells her. She calls herself Auntie Alice and explains that Tanya and Rainie used to come to see her all the time. She says that Tanya stopped when she went to the big school. Auntie Alice tells Tanya that Rainie still lives there, but it’s disgusting the number of men coming in and out of the flat. She chastizes Tanya for not looking out for her sister. Tanya asks her to pass a message on. Auntie Alice passes judgment about Rainie and how she hasn’t been round for 15 years.
Craig comes into the Vic and orders a citrus vodka from Roxy. She tells him there are three problems with that and questions his age. He pops out his identification and asks for a larger. He talks in circles and tells her he hears they are missing the Queen Vic bust. He pulls out the key to Ian’s back door and says he’ll be round to pick it up tomorrow. Ronnie and Roxy grin.
Ian comes into the chippy and asks Lucy where Craig is. He tells Lucy she can’t work there alone. She quotes him some Craig talk about Ian is confused. He wonders what this is all about. Lucy tells him she wonders who has been in her diary. He apologizes and asks if they can all sit down and work this out. Lucy says no. Ian tells her he’s making an effort. Craig walks in. Ian tears into him about leaving Lucy on her own. Craig smirks at Lucy and begins to tell Ian a lie about his Grandfather passing away that morning. Ian feels horrible and apologizes. Ian offers him the day off, and Craig turns him down. Ian walks out, and Craig grins big. He tells Lucy to watch and learn.
Ronnie and Roxy are staring at the key. Ronnie says they don’t even know if it’s his key. Roxy says they should steal it back and let Ian think they haven’t.
Max comes in and grabs a drink. He wonders why it’s so quite. Tanya tells him that Ian and Jane are back at theirs and the kids are there until the situation has calmed down. Max is frustrated because they are now caring for the kids. He tells Tanya he’s off to a leaving do and not to wait up. Tanya is frustrated with him and tells him he doesn’t understand a thing. Max closes the door. She tells him that her sister has disappeared. He tries to help and offers to call the police. She tells him it wouldn’t be of any use. She says going back there did her head in. She sends him off and tells him he’s not helping. He leaves and tells her to remember he doesn’t know what time.

Lucy is sitting on the stairs at the Brannings when there is a knock on the door. Lucy says she’ll get it. The woman at the door says “don’t tell me you must be Lauren!” Tanya gets up and realizes it’s Rainie. Tanya sends Lucy to bed amidst protest. Rainie says “It’s a Rainie day woman again” and goes to hug Tanya. Tanya tells her she can’t do that, that thing she does to sucker her in. Rainie tells her she only wanted a hug from her little sister. Rainie asks her where Max is. Tanya says he’s out, lucky for her. Rainie tells her it’s a shame as they always had such a soft spot for one another. Tanya asks her if she has any idea what she put her through today. Rainie gives her a barrel of excuses. Tanya asks her if Auntie Alice gave her the message then. Rainie admires her house. She tells Tanya that Auntie Alice told her that she’d turned into a stuck up cow. Rainie asks her if she can stay. Tanya tells her she will need to look in her bag. Rainie asks Tanya if she’s burying hers in the backyard these days. Tanya tells her that she hasn’t done anything since she was 18. She shows Tanya her bag and pulls out methadone. She says she will toss that even if it will make Tanya happy. Tanya tells her one cup of tea then she has to go. They go into the kitchen and Rainie squeals over the guinea pig. She finally gets her hug from Tanya and says she’s put on some weight, and it’s not like her to let herself go. Tanya says she’s still waiting for an explanation about what happened at court. Rainie begins to explain asking if she saw a bloke wearing a denim jacket and trainers. He is the reason she didn’t show up. She’s been busted twice for shoplifting and possession. They offered her probation if she turns on her dealer. She takes it, and the dealer calls her to threaten her. She called the old bill, and they refused to protect her. Rainie says she’s clean and she needs a place to stay. The old bill is looking for her, and she needs help. Tanya tells Rainie she doesn’t have the room and Max wouldn’t like it. Rainie tells her “you know I snuck back to the flat to get something. You want to know what it is?” She pulls out a photobooth photo of her and Tanya. She’s hit a nerve with Tanya

Tanya tells her it was a long time ago.
Roxy and Ronnie are inside Ian and Jane’s searching for the bust. They don’t find it but hear the door open to Jane and Ian giggling. They hurry to hide on the stairs and spy the Queen Vic. Tanya tells her she will bring it up. She goes in, and Rainie is not there. She finds the rabbit and heads to the kitchen. She opens the door to find Rainie preparing to shoot up.
