September 2, 2018 Episode 1 (UK Original Air Date 27 July, 2007)

Roxie is feet up on the kitchen table painting her nails. She is spouting off about how it was Ronnie’s cooking that was the problem. Roxie says that people will get beaten up to avoid it. Peggy is standing in the doorway and overhears Roxie say that she doesn’t like it there, it’s like the Adams family. Ronnie gives a look to Peggy as a sort of apology. Peggy looks at Roxie and says that is exactly what it is like. Ronnie is frustrated with Roxie, grabs the nail polish and dots Roxie’s nose with it.

Ben goes into Phil’s room and asks him if he is awake. He brings him some plasters for his face that he’s found. Ben tries to open them but can’t. He tosses the tin down mumbling “stupid tin.” Phil tells him that it is alright. Ben asks if he can kip in with him. Phil tells him, of course, he can. Ben asks him how the fight happened. Phil tells him he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ben, getting protective of his dad, says he’ll beat them up for him. when he’s older

Bradley is in the kitchen with Stacey. He tells her that last night was brilliant. She agrees. He wonders what she’s doing later that evening. She tells him she told a mate she’d meet up. He asks if he can change her mind, swoops in and kisses her. He leaves and says he’ll see her tonight then.

Jase and Jay are walking in the market. Jay asks if there has been any news about his granddad. He says he could swear he heard the phone ring last night. Jase says it was a wrong number. Jay misses him. Mo and Yolande are in front of the Minit Market. They size up Jase and Yolande says he’s not her type, but Mo would have him. Yolande wonders what would really happen to Bert. Mo wonders why. Yolande says it’s a bit funny he would leave without saying a word.

Ian comes in with Bobby in tow with an eye patch on. Ian says Bobby will stay at home with Jane and Lucy and Peter will spend the day with him. Jane wonders who will run the Chippy. Ian says he’ll get a temp in. He just hopes Bobby doesn’t make her walk the plank. Jane is not amused.

Libby walks into the tune of Happy Birthday. She smiles as she spies her present. Libby is pleased with her gifts. She is especially thankful for Pats. Kevin says they are going to the Vic later for a proper booze up. Denise says they may have some exciting news later. Pat looks sad.

Roxie is whinging about the nail polish on her nose. She tells Ronnie she could have been marked for life. Ronnie says “what from nail polish?” Roxie reminds her it’s not meant to go on skin. She walks out as Ben walks in. Ben asks Peggy how to make breakfast. Ronnie offers to make it, but Ben says he wants to do it. He promised his Dad he’d bring him breakfast on a tray. Peggy tells him that is nice and offers to help him.

Ian is boasting to the kids about what they are about to witness. He’ll teach them how to interview someone by using clever questions to rule out the useless and the feckless. Peter wonders what feckless means. Ian tells him it’s like a cross between Phil Mitchell and Sean Slater. Ian says “imagine if they had a kid together!” Lucy declares that absolutely weird. He tells them to go ahead he’s going to pop by and check on Ben. They wonder why he has to do that. He waves them off.

Max is ending a call as Bradley walks by. Bradley tells him he’s in a hurry as he should have had a report done last night. Max asks if he’s been burning the candle. Bradley says not just the candle, he and Stacey have gotten right back on track. Max says he’s happy for him.

Peggy is helping Ben with the toast. Ben asks if there is anything else and Peggy says no they have everything. Ian asks what his tray is. Ben says he is taking his dad breakfast in bed. Ian goes right mad and takes the tray. Ben tells him he wanted to do it for his Dad. Ian doesn’t bother to listen and rakes the tray out as Peggy yells behind him to stop. Ronnie and Roxie are listening in from behind the sitting room door. Ian walks up to Phil with the tray and tells him next he’ll have Ben going up the chimney to sweep it. Phil is confused, and Ben is upset as he watches Ian dump his breakfast tray on Phil. Peggy tells him that is enough and holds onto Ben. Ian tells Ben he’s leaving with him. Ben tells him to “get off!!” and runs to be with his Dad declaring his dad has been hurt and he’s looking after him. Ian tells him he is going to look after him. Peggy tells him that Ben was doing alright before he turned up. Ian tells Ben that the second he calls for him to help he will be there to help him. Roxie says “now that is what I call a family at war.” Ronnie says they are going to have to wade in.

Phil walks into the kitchen buttoning a new shirt. Peggy walks in behind him and says she’s sorry. Phil says it wasn’t her. She says “all the same.” Phil says that one more smack isn’t going to make a difference. She says she can’t believe what she’s done and asks for forgiveness. He ignores her and wonders where Ben is. She says “I’m saying sorry” Phil wonders if he’s gone back into his room. Peggy says she was trying to reach him, to wake him up. She says that word will spread, and people will talk and she can’t fight them alone. She needs him. She wants her boys back and alright. Phil turns to her. She tells him “you’re not here Phil. I don’t know where you’ve gone, but you’re not here.” Phil walks off.

Jane is frustrated with Bobby when there is a knock at the door. It’s a ketchup delivery. She tells them it’s for the cafe, but they don’t care.

Ian walks into the cafe apologizing to the interviewee for being late. Everyone stares at him. Stacey is sitting behind him when Max walks up to her yawning. He pumps her for information about last night. She plays it all up for him. Max says he just wants to see the two of them happy. She tells him she knows how to put a smile on his face. She tells Max to meet her later, at the usual place and it won’t be for a game of Monopoly. Max is pleasantly surprised.

Roxie is putting on more makeup as Ronnie comes down the stairs. They walk in to find Peggy staring off at the bar. Roxie tells her that whenever she’s had a row, she takes off. Peggy says that can’t happen as there is too much to do. Ronnie tells her that what Roxie means is that it’s not doing them good to be there. Sometimes it’s good to get clean away. The girls offer to stay and manage for a couple of days. Peggy isn’t sure. They convince her to think about it.

Mo, Yolande, and Honey are discussing Bert’s disappearance. Jase walks in, and Mo questions him. She wants to know what is going on with Bert. He tells them he doesn’t know and begins to strip down. Mo can’t remember what she was talking about.

Mrs. Masood comes in as Denise is snacking and dreaming of her future home. She asks Denise if she is buying or dreaming. Denise says a bit of both. Mrs. Masood tells her not to let her stop her. Denise realizes she’s at work with work to do. Mrs. Masood tells her to keep on dreaming.

Shirley begs Peggy not to leave Ronnie and Roxie in charge. Peggy tells her it’s her pub and her rules. Shirley pleads her case. Peggy tells her that she needs her there. Shirley agrees but tells her “don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Peggy picks up the phone and calls Grant. She tells him that they are coming over, that Phil has fallen apart. Ben is listening from upstairs.

Jane calls Ian and leaves a voicemail for him to call her back immediately. Bobby is tossing ketchup everywhere, and she chases him out of the room. Ian, meanwhile, is over at the cafe interviewing another person. Lucy and Peter look so thrilled to be there. The interviewee is hired on the spot after Ian accepts a call from a frantic Jane. Peter yells at his dad “Is that it? I thought you were going to show us some great interview techniques!” Another interview comes in.

Honey is at the laundrette working as Jase is sitting half naked waiting for his laundry. Honey asks him where the rest of his clothes are. He doesn’t answer. She tells him he better get some more as he can’t sit in there everyday half dressed.

At the Vic, Ben seeks out his suitcase. He opens it and starts to pack. Downstairs music is playing, and Shirley turns it down. Shirley tells them lunch is over and she’s managing the bar while Peggy is gone. Ronnie tells her it might be the worst few days of her life. Shirley says “days? more like two weeks!” The girls are not prepared for that but tell her they aren’t sure why she’s smiling. Roxie says she has no idea what she’s in for. Ronnie turns the music back up.

Ian and the kids come into the ketchup bath of destruction Bobby has left. Ian is shocked. He tells the kids to go get Bobby and make sure he doesn’t do any more damage. He is frustrated by sight. Jane apologizes. Ian says “I can’t believe I was going to bring Ben back to this!” Jane asks him how he is. Ian says looking at the state of that wall his mind is about like that. He tells Jane he can’t believe Ben told him about Stella but he didn’t listen.

Mo goes over to Billy to tell him what a nice friend Honey’s got herself in Jase. She tells him that he’s over at the laundrette naked with her. She winds Billy up and tells him that they looked very cozy in there.

Peggy takes out the passports. Phil asks Peggy if she’s going somewhere. She tells him that they are all going away. He asks her about the Pub. She tells him that she has it covered with the girls. She tells him he’s not the same, as he let Ian toss a plate of food on him and did nothing. She walks out, and Phil still looks dazed.

Billy walks in and orders Jase to get out. Honey wonders what he’s playing at. Billy tells Jase he knows his type. He tells him to get his clothes and get out. Jase tells him he can’t as his clothes are wet. Honey stops Billy and orders him to keep his eyes open until she gets home. Jase smirks. Honey tells him his clothes are done, and she’ll just get his bag. She opens his bag, and her eyes go wide.

A man is staring down Roxie at the pub. She whispers to Ronnie if he isn’t careful she will cut it off. Stacey walks in. Max is waiting for her. She tells him to give her a minute. As he leans on the bar flirting with the Mitchell sisters the rest of the Slaters walk in along with Tanya. Max is confused. Stacey smirks and says they are just waiting on Bradley as he walks in. Everyone is staring at her. Across the square, Ian and Jane are working on the mess. Ian starts kicking in the wall in frustration.

Ben is packing his suitcase and Phil walks in. Phil asks him what all this is. Ben tells him that he overheard Gran on the phone and they are going to stay with Uncle Grant. Phil tells him no, they are staying there. Ben says “But Gran said.” Phil tells him no, they are staying there. Ben tells him that he misses him and he wants his Dad back. Phil leans down and hugs him and tells him he’s right here. Peggy smiles as she watches them.

Kevin, Denise, Chelsea, Deano, and Carly are singing happy birthday to Libby. At the other side of the pub, Stacey says they aren’t the only ones celebrating. Tanya asks “are we celebrating?” Stacey tells her they are still waiting on Dot and Jim. Over at the birthday party, Denise and Kevin give the kids envelopes and tell them to open it. It’s the house. They announce that if her pay raise comes through they are going to buy the house. Libby asks what about Pat? Deano says that she has her own house. Libby says no, Pat isn’t there with them now. Pat is at home pouring herself a stiff drink. She sets out Libby’s card and toasts her birthday.

Stacey announces she will have to tell Dot and Jim later. She stands up and grabs Bradley. She announces that she loves Bradley and wants to marry him sooner rather than later. Bradley looks right pleased. She says she was thinking September or October. Mo asks if she is up the duff. Charlie chastizes Mo. Tanya tells her good for her, get him young and mold him into the man of her dreams. Stacey tells Bradley he’s the best. Max offers to buy the first round of drinks. He tells Stacey the least she could do is help him. He tells her “nice one.” She tells him she did it as much for him as much for herself. She tells him he needs to forget her. He tells her that nothing she said changes anything. He says “you and me… we ain’t over” Stacey looks upset.

Ronnie and Roxie are discussing the upcoming weekend plans they had. Ronnie figures they’ll have to cancel. Roxie says no way. Shirley can cover and what Auntie Peg don’t know won’t hurt her. Ronnie tells her she’s bad.

Ben asks Phil if he’s ready. Phil tells him he is nearly and he’ll see him downstairs. Phil grabs the whiskey and takes a big swig. Peggy walks in, and Phil stuffs it in his bag. He tells Peggy he’s ready and has everything he needs. She heads down, and he looks guilty.
