Tanya walks in and asks Stella if she can chat about Ben and Abby. Stella tells her that it’s Ben’s choice and she doesn’t want to interfere. Tanya asks if she can invite Ben around for tea to help them sort it on their own. Stella tells her that he can’t as he has a suit fitting and she is going to take him out for a special treat after. Tanya says maybe another time.

Patrick runs after Burt to ask him for his help. Patrick asks Jay for help, and he’d make it worth his time for a fiver. Jay negotiates for a tenner and wants it up front. Jay walks off. Patrick wonders where Jay is going. Jay tells him that he’s buying his silence. Patrick looks disappointed.

She explains that Abby has been having a rough go of it since they returned from holiday and it would give her and Ben a chance to mend fences. Peggy thinks it’s a great idea and agrees to let Ben go to tea at the Brannings. Tanya remembers that he’s got a suit fitting according to Stella. Peggy says that poor Stella doesn’t know if she’s coming or going. She thinks it’s a great idea and Stella has more important things to worry about than Ben’s fish fingers.

Denise is cleaning and trying to show Mrs. Masood how hard of a worker she is. Patrick comes round and asks if he can borrow the hoover. Mrs. Masood is listening, and Denise quickly tells her that Patrick is the “fix it guy” around there and he’s come to repair the hoover. He takes it away after telling her this one is on the house.

Ben and Abby are heading out of the cafe when he spies Stella. He shuts the door and checks to make sure she’s gone. He tells Abby to hurry up as they head out as Stella walks into the pub.

In the pub, Shirley is asking what’s wrong with Patrick. He explains how he snapped the fan Yolande’s Auntie left her in her will. He says he’s a dead man. Burt reads him his last rights. Peggy offers up Marco up to help him. Marco looks at it, and he says he thinks he can fix it. Peggy says they can use her kitchen on one condition. She wants to know what’s been going on in the bookies. Patrick breaks down and tells her that Pat has been running a smoking den. Peggy is ticked that Pat has been selling her carryout from the pub there. Patrick begs Peggy not to tell that Patrick told her.

Back at Tanya’s they have finished tea and Abby asks her mum if Ben can stay over. Tanya says no it’s a school night. Ben says he doesn’t want to go home. They convince her, and she asks for the phone so that she can call.

Tanya consoles Lauren. Lauren goes to the sofa and changes the channel on Ben and Abby. Abby storms out and sits on the stairs saying that she hates Lauren. Ben tells her that it’s not her fault. He explains that her mom is hurting her. It’s what mums do.

Patrick is rushing back to get the fan. Mickey rushes by and tells Patrick that Yolande is back. Patrick and Marco rush to put the fan back up. He asks Libby to stall Yolande.

Ben tells Abby that what is happening to Lauren is a test to prove you’re not a little kid anymore. He says he’s not supposed to tell anyone, which it is a secret. Abby asks what she does. Ben says Stella is always pinching him. She even burned him with a teaspoon once. He says that his Dad says it’s a fact of life and everyone has to go through it. Abby asks “what if I don’t want to go through it?” Ben says she has to. He says that Stella says that his Dad won’t love him anymore and he’ll send him away. Abby says her dad would never do that. Ben says it’s ok to be scared. Lauren comes out, and Abby asks if she is ok. Lauren tells her to leave her alone.

Denise and Yolande discuss her trip home. Yolande is happy to talk about how after spending time with her family she realizes she is a success in their eyes. Denise complains to Yolande about her job and her boss. Mrs. Masood walks out and tells Denise she’ll bare it in mind.

Max begins to say something when Peggy intervenes and says it’s alright as Tanya has already phoned. She hands Max Ben’s things. Stella asks when this was decided? Max says it’s nice to see that Abby is not enemy number one anymore. Stella is fuming, and it shows on her face.

Tanya is giving Lauren a heating pad as she says it hurts. Above, on the stairs, Ben and Abby hear Lauren asks if she can tell that she’s been crying. Tanya tells her no she looks fine, it’s their little secret. She makes Lauren her tea. Ben asks Abby if she believes him now.

Yolande comes home and is impressed with how great things look. She spies Marco in the mirror and asks Patrick to start at the beginning.

Max comes home, and Tanya tells him Laurens news. Abby spies on them and overhears their conversation. Abby goes in to talk to her dad. She asks him if he loves her. He says of course he does. She wonders what is going on with Mum and Lauren. Max closes the door and explains without exactly explains what is going on. He tells her she has ages before it happens to her. Abby is scared.

Gus and Mickey get another note. Stella is harping to Phil about Ben being allowed to stay at Abby’s. Phil figures out she’s hacked off because Peggy stepped on her toes. He says he’ll talk to her about it. Stella wonders if that is bad of her. Phil hugs her and tells her that she is Ben’s number one and by the end of the week she’ll have a ring on her finger and be his official mum.

Abby comes in to tell Ben he’s right. They make a plan to run away.
