Max is staring out the window, sulking. Tanya asks him if this is about Spain again. He says he felt like he could breathe over there. Tanya reminds him its not all about him. The girls have school, and friends around the square. She’s got a business that was sliding down the pan because he turned a holiday into immigration.  Max says they always said they’d live in Spain. Tanya tells him not now, and to stop shuffling about like some sort of clapped out junkie and make the best of what they have there. He asks her what they have got. She reminds him they have a baby and two girls who need their dad. And he has a son who has just made one of the biggest decisions of his life. Bradley don’t need me he says. She says he don’t need you? She says you are too busy moping about feeling sorry for yourself. Sort yourself out Max, Tanya says or she will sort him out.

Phil is in the Vic with Stella and is whinging about the cost of cakes. Stella says we’ve discussed this Phil it’s a fruitcake. Phil says 400 notes for a cake? The worlds gone mad. Stella tells him that she’s found a way to save money. The hen night at Booty’s was going to cost a fortune so she figures they could just do it at the Vic. Phil scoffs and says “what tomorrow night? What about my stag do?” She says she could do it upstairs. It’s not like he’s going to do anything juvenile. Phil isn’t happy. She says to think of all the money we’ll save. He gives in and agrees.

Phil tells Shirley that if anyone asks after him, he’s gone down to the Arches. It seems Garry has come down with the man flu. Shirley gives Phil the eye, and he asks her what. Shirley says it’s just unusual you know, his last night of freedom most blokes wouldn’t want their brides to be breathing down their necks. Phil says it’s not my last night of freedom. Shirley says good for you. Phil tells her to keep out of his business, do her job and all.

Deano watches as Sean steps down the ladder and Carly whistles at him. She asks Sean what he’s doing. He doesn’t speak to her. She calls after him as he walks away. Peggy is chalking up the board announcing Charity Kase as the act for the night at the pub. Pat teases her “what pay for live entertainment? Business must be slow” Peggy tells Pat that business if fine. Pat says she might even come around if she can get away from the bookies. It seems she’s been rushed off her feet lately. She asks Peggy if she remembers what that is like anymore.

Stella asks Shirley if she’s working tomorrow night. She says yes, she is. Stella asks her if she would please serve her hen night drinks. Shirley is a bit bitter in her response and says “Oh sure, just put a string and bell around my neck and yank it when you need drinks.” Stella tells her “well if you don’t want to,” Shirley tells her that she will do it. After all, Stella will be the second lady of the house soon. Shirley says to her not to worry she just does what she’s told. Stella tells her thank you. Shirley tells her she knows her place and is ever so humble.

Minty is telling Phil about Garry’s man-flu. He goes over the list of guys available for the stag night. Phil tells him to invite Ian. Minty says “Beale?” Phil says yes. He also tells Minty all the things that are off limits. Minty gives Phil a hard time about how tame his stag night will be. He tells Phil the way he’s going he won’t be a lion for long; he’ll be a little harmless… Phil tells him to finish, but Minty gets up.

In that salon, Tanya is ripping the girls a new one at the state of her business. She tells them she wants it back on course and anyone who doesn’t want the same can go on. She sends Chelsea out to hand out flyers. Chelsea is put off but goes to do it. Jane walks in happy to see Tanya is back. She tells Jane she had a lot to sort out, her business, house, and husband. Outside Max is walking towards Stacey. Stacey is saved by Jean’s appearance. Inside the salon, Jane and Tanya are having a cuppa discussing the magical night Max declared they should stay. Then she received an email from Preeti that said they had run out of waxing strips and she knew she better come home. Jane says she should have rung her she would have sorted them out. Tanya says there was something else and all, she kind of wanted their baby to born there in England. Jane says “a baby!” They hug, and Jane congratulates her and then shares the news of her marriage to Ian.

Stacey tells Jean that Bradley asked her to marry him. Jean asks her what she said. Stacey said yes of course. Jean tells Stacey that Bradley came around to see her and asked permission. Stacey smiles as Jean goes on about what a good guy Bradley is. Carly overhears Stacey and heads out of the café. Max walks into the café and introduces himself to Jean. Outside Carly is sharing the news with Dawn. Dawn thinks Sean told her, but Carly sets her straight and says that Sean isn’t even talking to her. Carly starts to talk about Sean’s sensitive side. Dawn walks away. Carly calls after her. Dawn tells her she’d rather cut Keith’s toenails that listen to her talk about Sean’s sensitive side. Carly says “but I like him,” Dawn tells her to go tell him them. Carly heads off to tell him.

Deano tells Chelsea that Carly and Sean must have had a falling out. Chelsea hands him the flyers and heads off towards the Vic.

Jean goes on and on about all the things Stacey wanted to be growing up. Max uses the opportunity to try to make Stacey see she’s making a mistake. Jean is amused by Max.

Stella comes back in, and Shirley asks her what she has in her bags. Stella says just a few bits and bobs for the hen night. Shirley apologizes for barking at her earlier; she’s not her best in the mornings. She’s excited about Stella’s big day and bets that Stella is jazzed to get behind the bar. Stella says “what me working here? If I had my way I won’t be living here.”

Carly tries to talk to Sean and lets it slip that Bradley and Stacey are getting married. Sean runs out as Peggy repeats to Carly that “Bradley and Stacey are getting married?” Carly chases after Sean, and she tells him she just needs to know why. Sean runs into Bradley and asks him if it’s true. He says back to my place now.

Phil comes into the pub, and Shirley says “you’re going to miss that place when you’re gone.” Phil asks her “gone?” She says that Stella said that they were thinking of moving away. He tells Shirley not to be daft they aren’t moving away. Shirley tells him not to be angry with her she’s only telling him what she said. He scoffs and heads upstairs. Minty and Billy are discussing the stag night. They devise a plan.

Upstairs Phil asks Stella why she’s been telling Shirley they aren’t staying there. She says “no no no that’s not it. I was just telling her that one day I’d like a place of my own.” Phil asks her where this place would be. She says somewhere further away from town. Phil asks if it’s someplace like Goodmayes and she tells him no. She says it is not a big deal she was just thinking of options. Phil says when were you thinking if not now? Stella says someday but maybe never. She tells him that she has not master plan she was just dreaming of what their lives will be like and that’s not such a bad thing.

Bradley is being interrogated by Sean. Sean is twisting it all around and asks if he’s going to be able to keep her in the manor she’s accustomed to. Sean laughs as he sees Bradley’s face and tells him it’s all good. He’s happy. Mo walks in and catches them in a hug.

Mickey walks into his flat, and it’s filled with video tapes. He tells Li if Gus has seen all of this he’d kick them out. He tells her that she should shift the pot too. They make plans to go to the Vic.

Max looks out to see the Slaters celebrating the engagement. They ask Jean to stay for a drink. Jean says no. Max sees an opportunity. He walks out and catches her as she walks by. He tells her to come in as Tanya would like to meet her.

Sean walks back into the pub. Chelsea is watching him. Stella asks if she can rearrange the furniture upstairs for her hen night. Phil tells her to do whatever she wants. A gentleman walks in with a bag. He asks for Peggy. He asks Shirley to let her know the act is here. He checks out Deano. Shirley tells him that he’s not so don’t even try it. Deano goes to sit with Chelsea. Minty comes back in and declares he’s found a man that can deliver a very special stag night for Phil.

Max chats up Jean about his mistake of early marriage. He tells Jean that he hopes they aren’t rushing into it. She holds her ground and tells him that Stacey loves Bradley. Jean is really on to Max and questions him. Tanya comes in, and the conversation is over.

Carly comes in and asks Chelsea what she’s been saying to Sean. Chelsea tells her that she told him she was ashamed of him. That Carly was quite predictable. Carly turns around grabs Sean, tells him its not true and gives him a big snog. She tells him her house is empty and he’s due to a break.

The Slaters all come in, and Charlie says he’ll get the drinks. Stacey sees Sean and tells him she’s sorry she didn’t tell him earlier. He tells her no problem, gives her money for a drink and heads out on his break.  Peggy announces the entertainment and congratulates Bradley and Stacey on their engagement.

Sean knocks on Carly’s door and asks if she was expecting someone else. She says Maybe, but you’ll do.

Bradley proposes to Stacey again in front of the whole pub. Jean, Tanya, and Max walk in to see it. Jean tells Stacey that she’s stayed to have tea with Max and Tanya. She tells her that she just loves Tanya, she’s a kind of what you see is what you get gal. She starts to say something about Max but stops and tells Stacey she’s proud of her for being the kind of girl who understands that Bradley is the good kind of guy.

Stella comes in as the entertainment is canoodling Charlie. Stella looks disgusted. Phil chases after her. He says “don’t like the act?” She says no not particularly. He says “you think you’re too good for this place, don’t you?” She tells him he’s just being silly. He asks if that is why she’s been making those plans. She says no but living above a pub, with your mother? Find a woman that would think that is ok. And this is not the exact environment to bring up kids and all. He takes offense as this is his home. She says looking further down the line there might be other children to consider. He says “are you serious?” She says yes. He says he already had two children, one of whom he hasn’t seen for years. She says yes, I understand but Ben and Louise aren’t our children. Phil tells her to stop they never talked about having children. Stella tells him yes, but that’s what happens right? You get married and you have children. He says I’m 46 ears old. If you were younger we would have talked about it. I just assumed. She says yeah that’s the problem we both made assumptions and we both got it wrong. He says to her no move, no kids and no arguments.

Sean comes back in to see Shirley singing like a virgin with the entertainment. Peggy catches him and asks him where he’s been. He tells her the outside heaters were playing up. She says that is not the only thing playing up as she spies Carly coming in as well. She tells him she is not paying someone to sew their oats. She warns him. Pat comes in and has a bit of poke at Peggy.

Carly tells Dawn she slept with Sean but might need to go to the chemist. Dawn scoffs at her. Max walks over to Stacey. She’s saved by Tanya running up asking for a camera. Tanya chats up Stacey about being eighteen. She tells Stacey that she’s happy for her, that there is something so pure about it all. When she was eighteen she was all dolled-up chasing after a married man (she points after Max). She lets Stacey in on another secret as well that she is pregnant. Stacey tells her that it is brilliant.

Stella comes in and apologizes to Phil. She tells him she just has these feeling for Ben. Phil walks away. Jean comes up and asks Sean to take a family photo for Stacey. Dawn takes the photo and Max is standing next to Stacey. He runs his hand up her back. Stacey runs out as soon as the photo is taken.

Max chases Stacey to her house and pushes his way in. She tells him to stop touching her. He tells her he can’t help it. Not touching her is making him mad. She tells him to stop. He tells her to tell him again, and he’ll never touch her again.

Back at the pub, the singer is singing a romantic song, and everyone is mesmerized. Bradley notes Stacey is missing. Max tells Stacey he’s made loads of mistakes, but his biggest mistake was running away and not taking her. He tells her he can have a bag packed and they can be gone in an hour all she has to say is yes. He tells her that they could go tonight, this very minute.
