Dawn is pushing herself up in bed telling May to put the baby down. May tells her it’s ok, she’s not going to hurt her. May says “I’m her mother,” Dawn tells her no she is not. May tells Dawn she can take over now as planned. Give her back her life. Dawn yells “she is my life now.” May tells her” it’s the endorphins talking, it’ll soon wear off. She will soon realize she won’t shut up and you’ll wish you had your life back.” Dawn tells her no. May begins to tell her that she would soon start wishing she’d given the baby to someone, anyone. May tells her she has the money, 10,000 pounds right there for her. May flashes a check in front of Dawn. Dawn gets out of bed telling May to give her baby back. May continues to try to get Dawn to take the money, telling her it would set her free. Dawn tells her again to give the baby to her. May says “ok I’ll make it more! 20,000, 30,000? Dawn please we had a deal!” Dawn makes her way closer to May telling her to give her to her. Dawn takes the baby out of Mays’ arms and tells her to stay away from them. Dawn calls out for the nurse and May runs out. May storms out of the door, and Rob chases after her. He tells May to talk to him. She tells him to shut up and gets in the car. Rob begs her to talk to him. She puts the key in the ignition and starts the car. Rob stands in front of it, and she screams at him madly to get out of the way. She continues forward, and Rob is not budging. He stands in front of the car. She screams at him “Last Chance Rob,” and she revs the engine to run him over and stops just before hitting him. She glares at him insanely and screeches out of the parking lot. Rob is upset.
Keith is snoring on the couch as is Mickey. Dawn is calling them, but neither hears the phone. The nurse walks in and asks Dawn what she’s doing. She tells her that she is going home as soon as her brother and step-father get there. The nurse tells her she needs her rest she can’t leave. Dawn tells her that what she needs is to feel safe. That if she goes to sleep and wakes up her baby will still be there. The nurse asks her what she is talking about. Dawn tells her that Dr. May Wright, the one she warned her about had just been there attempting to steal baby Summer. The nurse apologizes and says she’d been called away on an emergency. Dawn asks her what does she think this was? She was trying to steal her baby. The nurse tells her that she needs her to get back in bed, that she can call the doctor to give her a sedative. Dawn tells her no more drugs to thank you. The nurse tells her that her body needs rest to repair itself. I’m not falling asleep here again. Not until she knows that someone from her family is keeping an eye out on her baby. The nurse says she can do that. Dawn reminds her that she didn’t do that at all. Dawn tells her to call security because May could still be there. The nurse rushes out.
Ghingis nudges Keith awake. Keith wakes up and says it’s that time already? He yells at Mickey to wake up; he’s taking Ghingis for a walk. He tells Mickey to put the kettle on. Mickey reaches for his phone, opens it and sees Dawn has called.
Bradley asks Jim if he sees anything in the paper? Jim tells him no that Dorothy doesn’t understand all these modern films. Bradley tells him he’s cooking a romantic dinner for him and Stacey and he can’t do that with Jim and Dot about. Bradley asks Jim “you don’t think it’s going to work at all? Do you?” Jim doesn’t say anything, just grumbles. Bradley tells him that Stacey is over that other bloke, that she’s ready to move on and try again with him. Jim says he’s found a film, GiGi. Dorothy loves a bit of old-fashioned romance. Nothing wrong with that Jim says. Bradley says right. Jim grumbles again and walks out.
Mickey is on the phone and says to Keith he’s got a ton of messages. Just then his eyes go wide! He and Keith rush into Dawn’s hospital room. The nurse tells them to be quiet as she needs her sleep. Keith demands an armed guard on her 24/7. The nurse says that won’t be necessary. Keith declares he’s not moving then and will sit there with a baseball bat until that nutter is in jail. Keith tells Mickey to get him a baseball bat. Dawn starts to stir. Mickey tells Dawn that they will look after them. Dawn tells him she wants to go home. Keith tells the nurse “you heard the lady. Let’s get this baby packed up.” Mickey grabs up baby Summer.
Shirley is headed into the Cafe when Ian comes barrelling out. Shirley tells him he doesn’t miss a trick, does he? She points out he has a liquor license now. Is that, so we’ll all drink in the cafe now that Vic is closed. Ian says “yeah, as long as you buy a meal.” Shirley says that will bump his profits up and all. Very clever of him indeed. She calls him a “man of vision.” Ian asks her what she wants. Shirley says “a job would be alright.” He says “oh right! Why didn’t you say? Dole office around the corner.” He walks into the cafe. Shirley lights her cigarette as Pat walks up and tells her the station is just a bit further along. Pat asks her “what? No luggage? Here I thought you’d packed your bin bags. Oh, wait you weren’t leaving.” Shirley says “what and leaves my friends and family?” They take jabs at one another, and Shirley walks off, while Pat sighs.
Carly is sitting holding baby Summer. She tells Dawn she has to tell the police what happened. Carly says she has told them at the hospital. They came and interviewed her, and she told them everything. Carly asks if she’s told them about the psycho kidnapping etc. Dawn tells her she has told them all about everything except the contract to sell the baby. Keith says she didn’t want to do that anyway. Carly asks what they’re doing about it all. Dawn tells them they took her statement and said they’d start looking for May and Rob, even though Rob doesn’t have anything to do with it. Carly says of course he does; he’s been in on it from the beginning. That they’ve been in it together from the beginning and when is she going to realize that? Keith hands Dawn her doughnut ring to sit on. She thanks him and says she is so tired. She thanks Carly for the outfits she has brought her. Keith tells her that they’ll wake her when the baby needs feeding. Dawn whines that he could give her a bottle. Keith tells her that breast is best and it’s the current medical thinking for feeding babies. Dawn says she’s just so tired, can’t they give her a bottle? Keith says yes of course that they will look after Summer so she can sleep. Carly tells her of course. Dawn snuggles down on the sofa.
Jim comes in singing to Dorothy. Dot tells him it must be nice as some of them have work to do. Bradley comes rushing in. He tells them he’s not meant to stop he’s only meant to be running an errand for his boss and was dropping his shopping off. Dot tells Jim “isn’t it lovely him cooking her dinner?” She asks Bradley what he’s cooking her. He tells her a boil in the bag curry and time is money, and Stacey doesn’t have to know, does she? Dot smiles and Jim looks at him like he’s a genius. Bradley tells them he appreciates both of them. Dot says it’s their pleasure and that they haven’t been to the pictures in ages and it’s one of her favorites Gigi. Jim tells her he will pick her up at 5 and starts singing to her. Dot tells him to know when to give up.
The police are interrogating Rob. He tells them he and May split up because of Dawn, that is who he wants to be with. The DI tells him that the feeling obviously isn’t mutual. Rob says she doesn’t know what she wants. The DI says that perhaps what she wants is someone who doesn’t take her hostage so his wife can perform an illegal cesarean. Rob tells him to hang on a second. He helped her escape, and he got her out of there. It was May who… Ok, let us start from the beginning.
The dressmaker is unveiling Stella’s dress. Stella walks in, and Peggy tells her that she’d asked Preeti to come over so that she can match the hairstyle to the dress. Stella is looking quite timid in the doorway. The dressmaker makes a fuss about Stella not being ready, and she couldn’t possibly be wearing those hideous shoes. She has another client at 4 pm as she has another client whose dress is costing considerably more. Stella apologizes and hurries off to change. Peggy tells the dressmaker she did tell her to be ready. The dressmaker calls Stella a witless girl.
The DI and police are questioning Dawn about Rob’s involvement. She tells them she doesn’t want to press charges against him, just May. Keith asks if they’ve found her yet. The DI says no, but Rob did say that Dawn had in fact promised to give the baby to him and May. Dawn says it’s a lie. The DI says he reckons she signed a surrogacy agreement and made a number of payments to her. Dawn says she didn’t sign anything that was legal. That Rob had given her maintenance money whilst she was pregnant. Carly says she was entitled to that since he’s the father of the baby. Keith declares Rob has a responsibility to the upkeep of the baby what with him being the father and all. The DI asks Dawn about the 10,000 pounds May offered to pay Dawn. Dawn says that she tore it up and told May where to stick it. The DI wonders why Dawn failed to mention this all in her earlier statement. Dawn tells him because she knew they’d be like this. Carly asks why he’s trying to make out that she deserved any of this. Keith says it’s just typical of their lot always trying to make the victim out to be at fault. That their rights don’t matter because they aren’t rich and fancy enough. Carly quips “like Dr. Wright.” The DI says not to worry that the allegations against Dr. Wright are being taken very seriously. The DI says they’ll be in contact in the near future. They leave, and Dawn says there is a puncture in her ring and tosses it. Keith asks her “10 grand?” Dawn says “YES I ripped it up!!” She pulls the check out and rips it up. “There!” Dawn declares.
The dressmaker is pinning Stella, and Peggy states that the dress is just beautiful. Preeti says yeah but not very convincingly. The dressmaker turns around to her and says “speak your mind, or otherwise, we might think you haven’t got one.” Preeti says she is just trying to figure out what hairstyle goes best with the dress. Up or down or what works best she wonders. The dressmaker looks at them and says she could do with a break. Stella goes to step down, and she’s stopped and told that she won’t pin her again to stay put. The dressmaker looks at Preeti and gives her tea order. Peggy tells Stella she’s doing ever so well and marches off after the dressmaker. Peggy says “Olive I won’t be a minute. Make sure she doesn’t spill anything on that dress” Preeti tells Olive that she didn’t mean to offend her and that she thinks she looks stunning. Olive tells her, rather loudly, that Stella looks ridiculous. That there is a time and place for blancmange and it’s usually around the 9th birthday. Stella is standing there mortified and in tears. Olive says “but what can one do when the clients taste is horrendous” Stella kneels down as she listens to Olive go on completely rudely about Stella’s dress. Olive asks Preeti what she’s going to do with that hair. Preeti says she doesn’t know, looking rather awkward. Olive loudly laughs and says “you can comb it over her face and spare her the blushes” Stella is weeping.
Keith is taping the check back together then balls it up and tosses it.
Stacey is reading a card from Bradley on the beautiful flowers he’s sent. Pat says “oh look at that someone must love you” Stacey declares it’s just Bradley going over the top as usual. Pat scoffs and tells her not to take that for granted, and you want to encourage that sort of behavior. Stacey looks at her flowers as Pat walks off.
Carly answers the door to find Rob there with flowers. He’s there to see Dawn. Carly lets him in. Dawn sees him and turns her back. Carly comes in. Rob offers Dawn the flowers and lays them on the sofa. Rob wants them to have some privacy. Keith says no. Rob declares he loves Dawn. Carly asks where May is. He says the last time he saw her she tried to run him over with the car. Carly says its a shame she missed. He says if he knew where she was he’d tell them. It was always Dawn. It’s true he was weak, he was a mess in the head. He didn’t know what he was doing. And May she had this hold on him. But Dawn broke that. With Dawn, he was stronger. Carly says “oh please.” Dawn tells her to shut up. Rob tells Dawn he wants to start over, to be a proper family. He says she’s all he wants. He gets down on one knee and tells her he will buy her a proper ring soon. He asks her to marry him. Carly says “Dawn!”
Dawn says ” you don’t understand that I love him. Not one of you has ever properly understood that.” Carly looks at Rob. Dawn looks down at Rob and says “especially you.” Rob looks confused, and Dawn punches him. She says “You told the police Rob that I wanted to sell her? That’s not love. You listen to me. If you ever come near me again, I will press charges against you for kidnapping me because you were just as guilty of that as May was!” Dawn sobs a gasp.
Stella is apologizing for spilling something on Olives sketches. Stella says she’s such a butterfingers and asks if the drawings are ok. Olive says NO they are ruined, and her client at four will be so angry. She’ll have to redo all the drawings. Stella says she’s ever so sorry. Peggy is cleaning the mess up, and Stella tells her she’s so sorry. Peggy says it’s ok, as she knows it was an accident. Peggy walks out, and Preeti says she has to go as she’s left Chelsea alone too long. Stella says she should go take off the dress, so it doesn’t get ruined like the drawings since Olive’s gone and made it so beautiful. Olive glares at her and tells Stella to be careful of the pins. Stella glares back and tells Olive she should be careful of the pins as well. Peggy comes in and says she could use a drink. Olive tells Stella she should keep her eye on her. Peggy tells her she has and she’s the best thing that has happened to Phil and Ben in a very long time. Stella is outside the door listening.
Preeti is walking back to the shop when someone in a black hoodie steals her bag. She yells out that he has her bag. Mickey sees and tackles the person and gets her bag back. Preeti thanks him and tells him that was brave. She asks if he’s ok. He has busted Dawns ring he’s just repaired.
Stacey arrives at Bradley’s early and tells him she’s not feeling well. He says he’s made her a balti just like she likes it. She says it’s curry it last forever. She says it’s just a curry and a film they can do it another time, there is no rush. Bradley says ok and is very disappointed. Stacey tells him that if she feels better later, she’ll come over. He says it’s not her fault if you’re ill your ill. He asks her if she’s received his flowers. She says yes and that she’ll see him later. Bradley is disappointed.
Preeti is massaging Mickey, and he says it’s really good. She says she can teach him, as she teaches people all the time then gets them to practice on her as she loves a good massage. Booty makes Tanya a fortune she tells him. He wonders if that is right and she says yes.
Peggy is on the phone with Ben and tells him that his Dad is not there but Stella is and she’ll pass the phone over. Then she tells him not to call her on her mobile again as it cost a fortune. She then tells him she’s only joking. She passes the phone to Stella. Stella excitedly says hello to Ben and then looks to see that the call has ended. She continues to “talk” to Ben and goes on about having a big hug and a kiss for him and that she is missing him madly She continues the charade and tells him she loves him too. Peggy tells her that was lovely and that Ben is so fond of her. Stella sobs and starts smashing her head into the wall.
Ian is serving an empty cafe that is decorated up. Shirley tells him he’s set up for failure. He needs a different set up to draw in the pub crowd. He needs a friendly face behind the bar. She tells him the pub crowd can be rough. Ian asks if his dinner Kenny is ok. He says yes. Ian then tells Shirley to meet PC Morris? Ian says he gets a lot of coppers in and it must be all that free grub. He’s a man of vision.
May pulls up outside of Dawns. Dawn is looking out the window at her and hands Summer to Mickey. Dawn walks out and May hands over bags of clothes and things she’s purchased for the baby. She doesn’t want them to go to waste. Dawn asks if she’s lost her mind. May says probably. Dawn says she wouldn’t accept anything from her, ever. May says well she can’t keep them. Let her do something useful. May asks where the baby is. Dawn tells her she is safe. May asks to see her. Dawn says ok but wait there.
The bell rings at Bradley’s, and he answers to see Dot and Jim there. Dot comes rushing in and says she hates to interrupt him, but she will stay out of the way. She rang the bell cause she knew he had company, and yells back at Jim that its called consideration. She tells Bradley goodnight. Bradley follows Jim into the sitting room and says that he thought Dot loved Gigi. Jim says she does, except he got it wrong, and the movie was Gilgi about an assassin who swears like the navy! Jim digs into the curry.
May is waiting outside, and Dawn and Mickey come out with the baby. May says she looks like Rob. Mickey says no she doesn’t she looks like Dawn. Nothing of that fellow came through in her. May says “you ‘aren’t standing by him then? I don’t blame you. He would have cheated on you too. I should have left him when I found out he slept with you then I’d have kept my dignity and respect. Dawn, I don’t know what happened to me. I became a doctor to help people not hurt them. I’m so sorry. Can I at least give her this?” Sirens are blaring in the background. May understands now that she was keeping her there until the police arrived. They arrest May. May tells Dawn “I could have given her twice the life you can Dawn. Let’s hope that neither of you lives to regret that” May grabs her bag and walks away with the police. They put her in the car.
